<p>I agree entirely with this statement:<p>>As a contributor, you have to be an expert, but you're really not on the hook.<p>>As a decider, you can be a generalist, but you're on the hook.<p>My transition was from a decider at smaller companies to a contributor, working from home, at a large company.  The deciders at my large company spend 30+ hours a week in meetings.  I spend less than 5 hours a week in "meetings" though I may collaborate 1:1 or 1:small group much more from time to time.<p>Decide how you want your work to look in 5-10 years: on the hook, or not really?</p>
