New comment by K2h in "MapQuest will now show you where Flock cameras are in your neighborhood"

K2h — Sat, 17 Oct 2026 14:33:48 +0000

This shows the license plate readers i added last week on openstreetmap so we know where the data comes from. Nice render on their map - even shows camera direction

i added generic LPR’s - and they show on mapquest, so be aware its not just flock on their map.

To enable the view on mapquest, i could not figure it out on web, used ios app; layers / surveillance

Ios app; https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mapquest-gps-navigation-maps/i...

a list of engines I ran across the other day: https://seirdy.one/posts/2021/03/10/search-engines-with-own-...

The three dominant English search engines with their own indexes are Google, Bing, and Yandex but this list has many spiders and engines that traverse the web.

New comment by K2h in "Brembo's fluid-free electronic braking system is coming to a car near you"

K2h — Sat, 09 May 2026 00:56:05 +0000

There is something elegant about a pure hydraulic system that when all power is gone it still connects my brake lever to a brake caliper - i like the mostly fail safe implications of that design. As an EE, an MCU that decides to not follow its input 100% of the time - when say a wire gets corroded, shorter or disconnected gives me pause when it comes to reliably halting my multi ton machine at speed.

New comment by K2h in "Nordic Semiconductor Acquires Memfault"

K2h — Wed, 25 Jun 2025 13:20:54 +0000

Moved to nordic nRF52840 based system (RAK) because of the 9mA average draw to run Meshtastic for LoRa radio at 900mhz. Longest link so far from flat land is about 40 miles. Moving up the mountain to see what improved line of site can do.

Nordic chip is super impressive and power efficient compared to ESP32
