This really depends on what you're replacing. Replacing a standard electric water heater that uses ~$500/year of electricity with a heat pump water heater that uses ~$100/year (that's about what ours uses) has a pretty quick payback period.

>The vast majority of websites you visit don’t have usable APIs and very poor discovery of the those APIs.
I think an important thing here is that a lot of websites/platforms don't want AIs to have direct API access, because they are afraid that AIs would take the customer "away" from the website/platform, making the consumer a customer of the AI rather than a customer of the website/platform. Therefore for AIs to be able to do what customers want them to do, they need their browsing to look just like the customer's browsing/browser.

Ikea's new matter over thread temperature/humidity sensor has been pretty great for me so far. For $10, it has a nice pixel display that turns on with you press it, and it paired very fast and easily to HomeKit for me. The standard AAA battery will probably last a long time using Thread -- we'll see.

That example doesn't make sense, because 100 miles back to back is only 200 miles. You've got about 80 miles from charging overnight those two days and another 200+ miles already in the battery. In that situation you're totally fine. After that there are superchargers of course.

For my new Bosch Benchmark dishwasher, "normal" actually uses 2.4 gallons and 1.25 kwh a load, is most efficient, and is quietest. There is no "eco" mode. "Auto" mode uses about twice the gallons no matter what's inside and slightly more kwh.

I don't disagree about it being politicized, but if you look at the states with the highest amounts of renewable generation, your second sentence is not supported. There is a LOT of wind energy in Republican-led states in places where wind makes sense.

>But, the Left's problem is that instead of trying to raise everyone up they're bringing people down. It was that way in the USSR, and it's that way here. Where I used to live the Talented and Gifted program (which was state mandated) had a $1000 budget systemwide. The "equity" fund was almost a third of the budget. At that point why bother with public schools? It's taxation without representation.
Whether or not to cut gifted and talented programs is very much debated on the "left".

That paper, which follows 106 people born in Denmark from 1975 and 1979, says there may be correlation coefficients of 0.48 or 0.50 for IQ groupings between ages (1) 4 and (2) 14 and 44 years. 0.48^2 is 23%, 0.5^2=25%, so if you accept everything else about this, this would mean 23%-25% of variance in the older years may be explained by IQ at 4... that strikes me as not enough to make your conclusions ("IQ is pretty stable from preschool onward) even if the rest of the study is concluded to be accurate.

There has been constant political discourse in the U.S. about keeping cheap Chinese EVs out of the United States (yes, I know Polestar and Volvo are owned by Chinese corporations, they are older and at higher price point). You may have missed this in the last couple years if you're not from the US, but it would be hard to miss if you're from here.
