The technologies for renewable energy are inherently more decentralized than those for fossil fuels. My point was clearly this and nothing else: given that there are subsidies for both, a libertarian should be less upset about renewable subsidies since it is an enabling force for individual liberties when it comes to energy production. In practice, they are very outspoken about renewable subsidies and fairly quiet on oil subsidies.

Blows me away that energy policy is so political, and that somehow self-styled libertarians who don’t say a peep about oil subsidies are deeply offended by renewable ones. It you consider yourself libertarian can you at least be forward-thinking enough to see that shifting to renewables is also a step towards decentralization?

Yes. In the 90's in particular. I'm old and I was in Idaho at the time. What I remember, and I try in vain to remind my conservative family and friends, is that both parties wanted that shit rode out of town on a rail back then. It is now the dominant world view in Idaho conservative politics. I will point to the "accomplishments" of our last legislative session as evidence.

Just stop. You think MAGA are going to give two shits about affidavit and testimony in the Epstein files? What is actually playing out in front of our eyes is worse than whatever might be in those files - focus on what we actually know instead of a pig in a poke. Be outraged that troops were deployed in American cities. Be outraged about masked federal agents abducting and killing American citizens without even an investigation. Be outraged about war crimes. To do with electronics what they do with cars, raise the barrier to entry to give domestic manufacturers an edge. Except with routers there is no inherently US category of device with tax loopholes carved out like there is with cars; i.e. big-ass trucks and SUVs.

The cynical side of me expects that approval for sale in the US will require some kind of surveillance back door as well.
