Sam Altman raped his sister and assassinated a whistleblower. He's been removed from his last two companies for being a habitual liar (he managed to strongarm his way back into OpenAI of course). He only has money brcause he sold his first company based on fraudulent user numbers.
Hard to imagine people will go work for the plagiarism machine run by a sociopath because of their high ethic and moral standards.

Well in my case the government would have converted my USD salary into monopoly money at half of its value (that's before any taxes mind you) and it wouldn't even be legal for me to convert it back, so overall it was pretty cheap haha.
> And, their FAQ clearly states they don’t accept US citizens.
Ah could be, I'm not from the US so I can't speak to that.

LLMs are genuinely useful tools if used as such and not some magic people replacer.
I do wonder if their provided utility will still justify the cost once the bubble pops and frontier models aren't subsidized money furnaces, though.

> Why do you believe they're lying about their beliefs?
Because they lie about everything? They're adding more parameters to LLMs and pushing some more vibecoded slop on top of their harnesses, how do you figure that's gonna bring about AGI. Yeah Mythos has 5T parameters, but when we get to 7 5T it'll definitely become sentient bro just 2.5T more params bro you'll see.
Not to mention I still haven't heard a single explanation for why we could possibly want to give our IDEs consciousness.

> All of this is totally understandable if you take the perspective that these people genuinely believe they're building superintelligence.
They aren't, they are building LLMs. They aren't even building AGI and they all know it.
Hell, even if they came up with AGI, then Anthropic's service model would become slavery so I'm not sure why they'd want to.
