>I t's a bit like using c# or powershell on Linux… but I wouldn't consider it a first class citizen.
C# is very very much a first class citizen on Linux. It may not be native, but you can run binaries on Linux without needing the runtime when you compile it to target the platform.
I wrote a couple of monoservices on my Mac using c# which ran perfectly on my Microk8s cluster on Linux.

Is it just me, or is Sandstorm just not maintained any more?
The most recent closed issues were self closed rather than as the result of development, while meanwhile the open issues continue to pile up with virtually no code changes made to the tree…
It’s a shame because it seems like it could have been a thing. Sadly though it’s hard to justify time investment into a platform like this if you know there’s little to no chance of getting any issues fixed.

He said: “It’s out there already.”
In other words, “we’ve been stealing everything and built our business on that theft, it would hurt Meta if they were held to accountable for all that theft”.

I’m simply stating that for something to be objective it has to be an absolute irrefutable fact.
Anything else is subjective.
A UI can never be objectively bad because it is based upon how someone sees it.
For me, Gimp has a subjectivity bad UI because I’ve never been able to get my head around it.
Other people find it’s perfect and that it’s really easy to use.
Both statements are subjective.
“Objective” and “subjective” are both words that have well defined accepted dictionary definitions.

> When designing readable interfaces for different vision capabilities, the WCAG guidelines recommend the following contrast ratios
So, they’re recommendations, not facts.
A fact is not a recommendation.
You can cling to this until the cows come home, but anything visual is dependent on the viewer. It’s not a fact. It’s subjective.

“objectively bad”
No, it’s subjectively bad for you.
It really grinds my gears when people use “objectively” when being objective is to deal purely in unbiased observable, repeatable facts.
Your justification starts first with screen contrast - something that is truly in the eye of the beholder.
Then you go on about “finger gymnastics” for shortcuts - again something that you (and yes I don’t disagree others as well) suffer from.
Neither are issues that have bothered me one iota - so much so that your mention is really the first time I’ve thought about either.
However you then compare this to another app that also has many detractors thus creating an instant bias.

It’s hard to feel enthused by this when there’s been no traction for nearly a year now on the project.
PG17 support was promised last July but has yet to materialize.
I know OSS authors owe us nothing and it’s their choice to do what they will, but it does make it hard for others to want to embrace these projects when they stagnate.

Not to be pedantic, but…
Acorn Computers started off much earlier (I owned an Acorn Atom when it was released) which begat the Electron, then the BBC Micro and then the Archimedes.
At that time ARM was just an architecture owned by Acorn. They created it with VSLI technology (Acorn’s Silicon partner) and used the first RISC chip in the BBC Micro before then pivoting it to the Archimedes.
Whilst Acorn itself was initially purchased by Olivetti, who eventually sold what remained years later to Morgan Stanley.
The ARM division was spun off as “Advanced RISC Machines” in a deal with both Apple, and VSLI Technology after Olivetti came onto the scene.
It is this company that we now know as Arm Holdings.
So it’s not entirely accurate to claim “they had a full computer system” as that was Acorn Computers, PLC.
