How about actually testing both launchers on same device or at least give startup numbers of steam before/after update? So annoyed by this "comparison" honestly.

I started this as an alternative to cytu.be for personal use and experiments, when my internet was so old that it gave me global ipv4 and I could run the server directly from my PC and add local files to the playlist, streaming them to all clients.
At the moment, I have developed this project to the presence of many unique features, such as external subtitles / audio tracks, automatic Leader control and commands for rewinding when you want to rewatch a certain moment or skip an anime opening with `/90` in the chat.
I think one of the main advantages is the lack of dependencies other than NodeJS and a 150KiB ws lib, so the service can be easily hosted on cheap VPS.
Recently, I also added the ability to upload video files to a temporary server cache and play them immediately after the start of the upload, without waiting for completion. This is implemented by uploading the last megabytes of video with metadata, which the HTTP server returns when handling 206-range requests from browsers (doesn't work before full upload on render demo due to the nature of the service, i think).
The client and server are implemented in Haxe compiled to JS, it is not as good for integrating JS libraries as TS, but it has many features at the compilation stage and a simpler type system with Int and without separate undefined type.
I also made a Flutter client for Android with a server list, and although it is not the pinnacle of material design, it adapts well to virtual keyboard and it is convenient to switch to a fullscreen with a double tap and exit it when the new message icon appears in the corner of the video.

This is an impressive feature, considering that you can even watch videos from Chinese tech bloggers when there are no prepared English subtitles on YouTube. In other cases, it reads the already written subtitles, but analyzes the speech and divides it into different female/male voices. Some words can be translated funny in the wrong context.

This week I removed adware from Android, which is installed according to the following scheme: a person sees a fake advertising notification about an infection, then even trying to close it opens Google Play or another store with some kind of antivirus with a generic name like xcleaner, to make it harder to find it among others, and installs it. Then this application starts working in the background and every 2-3 minutes creates full-screen advertising banners with vibration, also about infections with links to other garbage. It does not exist in the list of applications and in the activity list as soon as the banner is closed. While it is there, instead of its name it shows a webview, and you need to guess to go from the list of processes to the application in order to see its real name and delete it.
A year ago, I also saw a fake advertisement for a squid game. These fake advertisements have already become a meme, but they also offer to download from Google Play a slightly similar game, where after quickly clicking on the screen, the smartphone will suddenly prompt you to buy an expensive subscription and then you will not be able to cancel it, because Google does not provide for them refund. This idea comes from SMS scams since j2me platform, and judging by the comments on this game, people are still losing money, especially if they leave their phones to children.
I don't use ios and won't say whether manual moderation there helps prevent the same crap, but let's not ignore that if you're not tech-savvy, this Android security alternative is pretty easy to get around.

It's funny how democratic Western world gives themselves the ethical right to kill others while fighting for “truth” and turning a blind eye to their own war crimes, which is ultimately a reflection of the rhetoric of their opponents.
This impeccable confidence in the rightness is simply amazing.

Yep, try-haxe itself is generated JS+PHP code from shared Haxe codebase.
There is also some bytecode targets: JVM, HashLink JIT (fast in compilation Clang target alternative), neko (older Haxe VM), swf.

Flutter is framework, Haxe is language. There is different Haxe frameworks, but debugging/performance mostly depends on target you choose, and Haxe compiler is pretty good on byte/code generation.
