One way to make tmux way more usable is to use tmux-fingers, which provides hint-based mouse-free copypaste capabilities

Nice article! I'm gonna introduce some of this in my configuration for sure!

I have a function in my .vimrc ( https://github.com/Morantron/dotfiles/blob/master/vimrc#L229 ) that allows me to send current vim selection to the adjacent tmux pane with vimux. This comes in very handy in REPLing sessions ( MySQL and the like ).

For copy pasting stuff ( like ids, urls, SHAs, etc ) I use https://github.com/morantron/tmux-fingers which is awesome and you should totally try it! ( )

I wonder how I could improve the visibility of the plugin, since it's a little bit difficult to find/explain. What kind of keywords where you using?

I agree, my personal wiki is just a folder with a bunch of markdown files.

I "link" them by path ( with gf you go to the file under path ), and every change is commited using https://github.com/nevik/gitwatch

I use grep ( or git grep ) for searching in my notes.

I've been using tmux for a while. What I like most is the copy mode and its scriptability.

Copy mode allows you to select and copy text using vi or emacs ( whatever you choose ) key bindings. This way, you can go completely mouse free in the terminal. This is also present in screen.

Then scriptability: tmux exposes lots of commands so you can interact with it from a script. There are quite a few plugins out there. https://github.com/tmux-plugins/

My personal favourites:

- https://github.com/morantron/tmux-fingers/ copy pasting using vimium-like hints, so you don't even have to enter copy mode ( this one I did it myself )

- https://github.com/tmuxinator/tmuxinator/ predefined user sessions. Solves repetitively opening the same services/commands every time you start a coding session.
