I'm really dubious when reading posts posing some things as obvious or trivial. In general they are not.

I can't verify the claim "The feed conversion ratio for chickens, the amount of grain you put in to get meat out, is 2x. That grain is incredibly cheap.".

Instead I found: "2.51 kg of dietary protein is required to generate 1.00 kg of protein in a chicken carcass or saleable end product." [1]

If we're talking about efficiency, let's directly eat grain, then, leave the chicken alone.
