My girlfriend died from human metapneumovirus at 30 years young. She had a weakened immune system from lymphangiomatosis, so something like metapneumovirus, which is a mild illness for most people, was a death sentence for her. I hope this fund is successful so nobody else ever has to go through what she did.

I'm a noob so I haven't got very far yet. Currently working on a bootloader then going to do flashcards and a very basic word processor. I'd like to be able to switch firmwares almost like switching applications. I'll share everything on GitHub once I'm sure it won't brick people's devices, but right now the code is just sitting on my PC.

I've had the X3 for a month and I love it. It's so small I forget it's in my pocket and have almost washed it a couple times. I'm working on custom firmware for it, so I ordered an X4 when they had the 20% off sale to test on there too.

A lot of rural areas don't have good transit. Even if they do, it's hours round trip. Here's an example. North Dakota has an abortion ban. Someone in Minot would need to travel almost 5 hours to Moorhead, MN or almost 7 hours to Billings, MT. Now that's not any different really than before the ban, because the only clinic in ND that provided abortions was across the river from Moorhead in Fargo. But what if that clinic in Moorhead closes? Or what if Montana bans abortion? It's banned in South Dakota, so people out in western ND, SD, or anywhere in Montana are going to have to travel even further. There are many small communities around here with no bus lines or trains coming through so they're stuck if they don't have a good car.

I see lifted trucks and massive SUVs in neighborhoods and grocery stores. I very rarely see them using their towing capacity.

We're getting a data center just north of Fargo, on the other side of the state from all the oil. I agree with you, not sure why they don't build out west instead.

Pretty sure the flares aren't anything like that anymore because some regulations changed where they can't flare so much, but yeah that was a crazy time period.

I don't understand what the controversy is in the US about banning phones in schools. I graduated highschool in the mid 2000s and cell phones were just starting to gain adoption in my town in the last couple years I was in school. I don't recall anyone using a phone in class, but Game Boys were definitely not allowed. I was surprised when I found out that kids were regularly on their phones in class. Why was that ever allowed? Did it get too hard to enforce and they gave up on it until recently?
