Can you hedge against it with interest rate swaps? It seems interest rate risk is probably one of the more manageable risks of a small business that is fundamentally dependent on other people's money - how do you know it's going to succeed in the first place even if rates don't increase?

The problem is for every good article on the tech, there are dozens and dozens of submissions from crypto-grifter-turned-AI-expert or yet another "platform play" instead of something actually practical. Let's see more of the gold and fewer of the shovels, please.

LLMs not existing isn't the reason we don't have UBI or free healthcare, or stipends to pursue passions. I think most people are understandably concerned that the benefits of these new tools will primarily accrue to the tiny elite who can afford to control the compute resources and therefor mediate access to the models.
If LLM replaces a bunch of $DAYJOB you won't have people learning violin, you'll have widespread unemployment and the civil unrest that accompanies it.

I think it's more of a sovereign citizen "hail Mary" type move to get her out of jail. Even in states that don't have a constitutional notion of "fetal personhood", a pregnant inmate is still entitled to adequate prenatal care, and that's the relief they should be seeking, not habeas corpus for the unborn child.

Godaddy is a crappy company for many reasons, but this seems like something that's trivially testable. If they were really front running domains, anyone could spend an hour typing domains in and see a bunch of them mysteriously registered by godaddy the next day. Has nobody done that? Why can't I find any blogs where this was attempted?

Many of the suggestions so far are assuming you have taken undergraduate linear algebra and calculus. I'd start with those two subjects, you really can't build a foundational understanding of modern AI techniques without them.

Those generative AI companies aren't exactly lean on energy usage either. It's about capturing the IRA money, which to their credit they are very up front about. Maybe something good will come out of it, after all, that's the point of the government spending! If they save the world purely out of self interest then we still get the saved world...

Children can't enter into contracts either, we actually do not give them many of the same rights we give adults. This is because children are considered immature and unable to act in their own self interest. There have been "childrens rights" movements in the past though, it's not an uncontested subject...

I think there's actually some risk of too much time at Elon twitter making your resume toxic. It's no secret what kind of environment he's fostering there, and many companies simply don't want to hire the type of person who thrives in that situation, regardless of how technically skilled they are.

The VCs all seem really giddy about the situation. I think it's because the labor power tech workers represents terrifies them. They know that technology can be built without venture capital just slowly and perhaps in different directions, but venture capital alone needs tech workers to realize its visions. These guys can't get rich without the consent of the "laptop class" they talk about so spitefully. Finally they get to watch a bunch of those people suffer for no reason. PG is just enjoying the cruelty here.

So, maybe just business partners, not finance partners, although that's $2bn of cash that Musk won't have to pay out. Anyway, the substance of the point remains intact - there are many plausible reasons the current owners of twitter could want to continue operating it that are not in the classic corporate raiding plan.
