ok let me clarify. It is really not a good idea to give your password out on the internet, even if the person says they are an employee. When I worked at a company handling user data they had strict rules around this because employees had to be accountable for what user data they looked at and how that data was handled. Someone could use your password, do something harmful, and then blame it on you. It would be hard to prove innocence.

You shouldn't ask for someone's password, no matter what the context is. There should be other ways to duplicate or identify the issue, no?

I disagree. In a pandemic it's important to get solid and clear information to the population. If you start saying things that don't go through the proper channels to be verified as reasonably true, then you create massive confusion when you potentially have to go back on that information. Scientists can and do make mistakes. A lay person might not understand what "preprint" or "not peer reviewed" mean yet this article is on the BBC which the average lay person does trust as a source for reasonably true information.

You are looking at it merely from a percentage point of view. 1.24% at Facebook's scale is _massive_. It is not a drop in the bucket, and Facebook is especially worried because it could be a trend. Today it's 1.24% but how many people would switch tommorow?

I disagree. This is an extremely important feature. If something happens to me, I wouldn't want my family to have to jump through insane hoops to get access to my accounts for a bit of extra theoretical security. At this point something traumatic has already happened to them and this would just be another emotion burden. This could be for financial reasons, or say if I were missing, to communicate with my friends.
Let people who don't need it and don't want it turn it off, but for me I'd definitely have it on.

But there are some suspicious looking numbers and events that happened. I personally don't believe that they are true, but why not just investigate them? People distrust dominion voting systems; Just allow a bipartisan audit. People think certain votes were counted without both parties present; just recount those votes. Where is the harm in just being absolutely sure of things? If you just shut down people because there is no absolutely solid, undisputed evidence, they just think you are hiding something.
