The main difference between this and your typical AC induction motors (also magnet free) is that this is a DC motor so you need a commutator. Your AC induction magnet free motors are very similar to drone motors in that you don't have any electrically active moving parts like slip rings and commutators. But for AC induction there will be a slight lag (known as slip).

Yes and for linear (if you break it down strictly in a theoretical CS sense, is roughly equivalent to TodoMVC in terms of application complexity assuming non-collaborative text editing) they have clearly defined states for most items and few if none truly destructive actions. The hardest part is anything text related.

Nah, they are essentially irrelevant unless they are operating as part of a coalition. Last I checked they are still waffling on what 5th generation fighter jet to procure while the rest of the world are starting to plan for the 6th generation.
