They weren’t blindingly fast then. The hardware was so much slower in the 90s. It’s difficult to remember just how slow a 5400rpm hard drive was.

My experience with any built in sandboxing for these command line tools has been awful.

What I've done instead is built a script to create a disposable virtual machine (using incus to manage it).

And then I just run the CLI inside the virtual machine and delete the vm at the end of each day.

Spaced repetition works well for motor learning. You just have to keep hitting “Again” until you are actually good at it.

For a while Amazon loved selling the smaller units for a little as a dollar (and often including several months of Amazon music for free or almost free as well).

Sell enough of these 30 dollar gadgets for a dollar and it will add up quickly.

You should keep going with Brothers Karamazov. The first 150 pages are mind-numbingly boring. But starting at around page 151, it does indeed become one of the best, if not the absolute best book ever written.

I've never had the TSA confiscate my bladeless Swiss Army Knife (it has scissors and a screwdriver).

But I have had it confiscated abroad more than once. Many other countries won't allow scissors, or anything that looks like a knife, to fly.
