It's funny how people see "ML" models becoming superhuman at proving mathematical theorems as a sign that we're about to enter the singularity (whatever that means) or that it somehow justifies the valuations of those companies...But what I see is a scenario where companies have spent trillions of dollars on a technology, and the most non-trivial thing that technology can accomplish is a pseudo-form of automation for mathematics and coding! Remember that early on, when this whole bubble started, investors were promised that "AI" would eventually capture >70% of the world's jobs! but it could very well be the case that the only ones they're going to replace are mathematicians(and i'm not even sure about that!)!

It'll affect everything that depends on manipulating symbols! The enormous body of knowledge humanity has accumulated over the past 6.000 years or so is about to be flooded with slop! And That's the real threat genai poses to humans that i don't see anyone talking about..

Google search box has basically become an AI aggregator that doesn't give anything back to those websites it scraps data from, and it'll result in the death of the internet as we came to know it
At this point, google might as well stop showing website links in search results. with AI Overviews, barely anyone’s clicking through it anymore

Really surprising how many people are downplaying this leak!
"Google and OpenAi have already open sourced their Agents, so this leak isn't that relevant " What Google and OpenAi have open sourced is their Agents SDK, a toolkit, not the secret sauce of how their flagship agents are wired under the hood!
expect the takedown hammer on the tweet, the R2 link, and any public repos soon

that's the thing that people overlook the most in regards to this war.iran isn’t doing this on its own. Russia, China and north korea have been backing it from the start. they’re the ones helping with intel on US base locations across the Middle East, supplying drones, and working out strategies to drag things into a stalemate, plus whatever else iran needs along the way

In the long run, vb coding is going to undoubtedly rot people’s skills.if AGI is not showing up anytime soon, actually understanding what the code does, why it exists, how it breaks and who owns the fallout will matter just as much as it did before LLM agents showed up
it'll be really interesting to see in the decades to come what happens when a whole industry gets used to releasing black boxes by vb coding the hell out of it

My main takeaway is that Generative AI has hit a wall... New paradigms, architectures and breakthroughs are necessary for the field to progress but this begs the question, If everyone knows the current paradigms have hit a wall, Why is so much money being spent on LLMs ,diffusion models etc, which are bound to become obsolete within a few(?) years?

one of the most popular things in modern society,'modern music' (whatever that means)is not different from 'junk food'.. 'Modern music' is to your brain what junk food is to your body! Modern music with its repetitive beats optimized to give you a brief 'dopamine' have a similar effect on your brain as junk food does on your body!! in the same way that junk food provides a quick burst of pleasure but lacks nutritional value, modern music offers instant gratification through repetitive beats and catchy melodies while offering little to no informational value to the brain . .... "junk food", "short videos", "porn" and "modern music" these things are all designed to give you a brief dopamine rush ;)

i find it ironic that some people would dismiss tools like these solely because it's based on ML algorithms or whatever, as if the music you enjoy hasn't been significantly shaped by algorithms and digital processing.the modern music industry heavily relies on algorithms and computer programs to enhance sound quality, adjust pitches, and even modify the voice of the artist.... much of the music that people listen to today is, in some way or another a product of algorithmic manipulation. And no, tools like these won't render "modern " music any more 'banal',.After all, something that is already banal can't become "banaler"
