Recent news articles are stating: "Nancy Pelosi's challenger in California thinks putting the House speaker on blast for supporting congressional stock trading might finally pay dividends for him in his third attempt at unseating the long-term lawmaker."[0]
She is possibly flipping on her decision now to keep her seat. If her husband Paul Pelosi[1] (an investment manager) can continue to trade, this ban will do nothing to her.
[0]: https://www.businessinsider.com/nancy-pelosi-challenger-shah...
[1]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Pelosi

I mentioned it in another comment, but I felt the same way until I figured out there is a solution. Here is an example of a simple CSS file with a reusable button class:

  @tailwind base;
  @tailwind components;
  @tailwind utilities;

  @layer components {
   .button {
     @apply text-2xl p-2 bg-gray-100 text-gray-600 border border-gray-200 cursor-pointer hover:bg-gray-200 hover:border-gray-300;
   }
  }

I can now just give all of my reusable buttons the ".button" class instead of the giant string above. I can even add more styles or overwrite existing styles to give it a different look such as:

  Click Me

> Is the code on the left (with lots of classes) actually what tailwind is like to use in practice?
As a fan of tailwind, I can say that I initially thought this was dumb and it would be hard to read through a huge number of classes applied to each HTML element. Later, I found that for many of my reusable components, I could combine classes into a single class. As an example, my stylesheet may look like this:

  @tailwind base;
  @tailwind components;
  @tailwind utilities;

  @layer components {
   .button {
     @apply text-2xl p-2 bg-gray-100 text-gray-600 border border-gray-200 cursor-pointer hover:bg-gray-200 hover:border-gray-300;
   }
  }

I can now just give all of my reusable buttons the ".button" class instead of the giant string above.

I felt the same way when I discovered this element about a year ago. Each time I try to use it I always find it falling short of what I need it to do. It's incredibly limited in what can be styled with CSS, doesn't have the ability to have multiple values and there is no max-height to the dropdown. I've seen the dropdown grow so large it clips out of the browser itself - which might have been a bug that is now resolved.

My understanding is that is the combination of both a standard and . You can either choose one of the pre-defined options from the dropdown or add your own custom value in the input.
I've tried hard to use this element on many applications but each time I always find it falling short of what I need it to do so I just end up creating a custom element. My biggest gripes are the lack of a max height attribute for the dropdown and inability to do much in terms of CSS styling. It would also be pretty slick if it was possible to select multiple values.

This is what I want to know. I actually greatly dislike the touch pad on the current remote. I am constantly swiping too fast (flying by my desired target), or my upward/downward swipes are not working as desired. Not to mention every time I pick up the remote, the touch pad thinks I'm swiping causing my movie to fast forward/rewind.

I cannot agree with you enough. Our company hired a new manager that had a background "familiarity" with PowerApps. He requested that I (a software developer) create a PowerApp that would be used by the company, essentially a ticketing system. I figured with my ~decade experience in developing complex web applications from the ground up, this would be a piece of cake.
What an abysmal way of developing applications. Everything (containers, widgets, etc.) is basically SVG's and your application looks like your designers couldn't use anything but MS Paint. Creating more complicated interactions with buttons and other UI elements was a pain to develop and making the UI responsive was a nightmare. The generated HTML was insanely ugly and the application was very slow/sluggish feeling. After fighting for a couple weeks, I began to (behind the scenes) build out a quick web application alternative to pitch. Long story short, he LOVED the web app version and that is what we are still using today company wide.

I once was interviewing at a company for a graphic designer position. My previous job was paying me just below $30,000 and I desperately needed to increase my income to keep up with my bills (college loans, rent, food, electric, etc.). My vehicle (1987 Chevy Blazer) was not very reliable (in ~2010) and wouldn't you know it - I broke down immediately after parking in a lot directly in front of a sign that said "2 Hour Parking, Vehicle Will Be Towed At Owners Expense".
I'll never forget the embarrassment I felt after a pretty underwhelming interview explaining that my car was broken down outside in their lot and asked they notify their security so that I was not hit with more expensive fees. I've had some pretty significant financial hardships - some much worse than this, but this moment in particular really had a lasting effect on me.

Like you I also had a mid/high range Samsung TV. The ads were not as obtrusive being only on the bottom left of the menu bar, but its the ACR that I needed to get away from.
> Samsung Smart TVs have built-in Automated Content Recognition (ACR) technology that can understand viewing behavior and usage including programs, movies, ads, gaming content and OTT apps in real-time.[0]
Literally every second or two, Samsung was performing some screen reading data collection and sending it off to their servers. My Pi Hole was capturing 12,000 blocked requests from this per day (6-7 hours of shared family viewing). This resulted in a poor user experience where I would feel the actually latency when trying to navigate around or open the menu. After factory resetting my TV it was so snappy again. Plugged in an AppleTV and haven't looked back. This form of advertising is incredibly invasive and disgusting to me, with constant spying/screenshotting of the content I am viewing.
[0] https://www.samsung.com/us/business/samsungads/resources/tv-...

I spent around $1,200 on my 4K HDR Samsung TV a few years ago. It was great, but lately has been unbearably slow and frustrating to the point where we'd stop watching TV in the living room all together. Not a great experience.
To try to remedy the issue (knowing it was slowed down by the disgusting ad platform), I installed a Pi Hole in the house to see if that would alleviate the problem. The TV felt a bit less clunky but Pi Hole seemed to have some issues with some of the installed apps - primarily Hulu, so I needed another solution. The Pi Hole statistics were terrifying at around 12,000 blocked Samsung requests per day (around 6-7 hours of shared TV usage).
I researched Amazon FireSticks, Roku's, etc. I needed something easy for my family and kids to use (they are not as techy) and I wanted an interface that was buttery smooth. While I am very much not an Apple fan, last night I picked up the 4K Apple TV to test and so far it seems to be decent. There are some things I would change with the platform for sure, but it is overall pretty intuitive so my family can just pick up the remote and go.
I factory reset my Samsung TV and completely removed the network from it. It was sad to see how responsive the TV was again after the reset. You can be sure I will not be buying another Samsung TV!

I purchased a Samsung TV about two years ago for $1,200. It was my first 4K TV and I loved it. I made the purchase around the same time I dropped my cable subscription, I just couldn't stand the advertisements anymore.
The panel was thin (with almost no bezels), the picture quality was superb and I was sold on the "Smart TV" features like having built in access to Netflix, etc. For a while it was great, then I noticed the ads showing up on the bottom left of the bottom menu. Now my TV is as slow as molasses and I hate it. Picture quality is still good, but Samsung ruined it with their software. I refuse to purchase another Samsung TV which really frustrates me because I love their panels.
I'm currently looking to disable the internet on it and use a Fire Stick, Roku, or other. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't have a lot of knowledge in history or politics of foreign countries, so perhaps someone here could answer this question:
In the end, time kills us all. Putin is currently 67 years old, I assume he will likely rule for another decade plus before time comes for him. Any hypothesis as to what may happen after Putin? Is it likely he'll "name" a successor who shares his
authoritarian views and the cycle continues?
