It'd be cool to have a new modern retro system that embraces the spirit of the early "computer consoles" like the Commodore 64 while adding all modern conveniences:
• Everybody has the same system (devs need to target only 1 environment)
• Boot straight into a programming environment
• Limited OUTPUT that enhances creativity without the internal limitations that hinder creativity: Like a limited numbers of colors, but no bitplane crap or having to do sprite multiplexing etc
• Online, ungated app store where anybody can publish, like itch.io
• Reasonable upgradability (not so much as to defeat point #1)

Holy f'n Hell, there's such a blatant bias on HackerNews in favor of Anthropic and against OpenAI.
I'm just a user, and in my experience Claude has been consistently crap compared to ChatGPT/Codex.
I use both side-by-side, and have paid for a ChatGPT subscription every month for around 1 year, but only 2 months for Claude; once last year, and again since last month.
Everything from the sign up, the sign in, the payment, the UI, the UX, gosh, just sucks on Claude.
And the AI itself: SO. MUCH. "OoPs you're right! I was mistaken" BACKTRACKING! It's downright DANGEROUS to listen to it! God I can post screenshots of working on the same project and the same prompts with both agents and prove how worse Claude is.
Of course this comment will be downvoted by Anthropic's paid PR machine, because there's no way actual users who have tried both products would be so in favor of Claude.

Does Claude not respect AGENTS.md?
I love how seamless and intuitive Codex is in comparison:
~/AGENTS.md < project/AGENTS.md < project/subfolder/AGENTS.override.md
Meanwhile Claude doesn't even see that I asked for indentation by tabs and not spaces or that the entire project uses tabs, but Claude still generates codes with spaces.. >_<

OH MY FN GOD, Claude isn't even respecting my AGENTS.md and other instructions! Codex does it seamlessly.
Just right NOW it generated GDScript code with SPACES instead of TABS for indentation despite me explicitly asking for tabs and everything else in the project using tabs.
Your use case is either extremely simple, involving extremely common scenarios, or you're too lazy to verify Claude's output.
Either way, it's not worth the hassle to convince someone using a bad product that it's bad; nothing's gonna improve, and you're the one being harmed by stubbornly gaslighting yourself and others that it's good. The rest of us will escape by never subscribing again.
I've already wasted too much time on this thread. I keep saying I am using BOTH Claude AND Codex SIDE BY SIDE but that's somehow getting filtered out by your fanboy glasses. I could post screenshots of the outputs of both agents for the SAME prompts but you would still not understand.

Oh my fuck, I was led to believe that the Codex Mac app was native. Codex itself said so. Google also said so but now it says different.
Codex definitely "feels" more native than Claude: Proper menus etc, like when you right-click on a session in the sidebar, Codex shows an actual context menu, whereas Claude reveals its HTML-rendered jank and highlights the word you right-clicked on as if the sidebar item is just a plain textbox, ugh
