I'm not just talking about LLMs though. People thought the internet and email were just a fad that would never catch on. People thought that the idea of home computing was absurd. All because they only saw what was in front of them at the time.
Also, how many accountants do you know that are truly happy with their work? I'd like to think many of them would love to do something other than crunch numbers all day.

I'm always surprised at how many people in the tech sector don't think that things can and will change. In the next couple of years? Sure. 5+? Who knows. Necessity is the mother of invention.

I think that a lot of posters here are missing the point - this is just the tip of the iceberg, and even simple improvements in prompting (infer the meaning of the lyrics, then generate footage related to that) would create a better result.
There is no going back from this, only forwards, for better or worse.

I like the idea, but I think there will be significant costs associated with it, especially for stricter environmental controls for poisonous materials and water / air pollution, since it'll cost companies to implement and maintain this, regulate it etc.

You're really clutching at straws here, have you ever been convinced something isn't sentient? Do you think everything is sentient? I understand the argument that normalizing with something like an asshole could cause you to act that way outside of that context, but I really don't see anyone getting convinced that some sentient thing suddenly isn't.

If only OpenAI spent a significant amount of money on some kind of generative software that was predominantly trained on internet comments that'd be able to do all the astroturfing for them...

I think it's less about being able to buy and hold stocks, and more the effects that going has on an organisation because you're now beholden to shareholders who expect returns causing the decisions made by the business to prioritise short term gains

I agree that it's more like a compiler (turns higher level language into machine code) but I also think that's only half the story - a compiler could never turn requirements into functional software, generate boilerplate or debug. It's also a development tool
