This ^ If it is secularism and religion in some countries, it is language and ethinicity in some other, and immigration and racism in America. Depends on the timing, and the need for it, politicians use it to their advantage.

I've been reading (and contributed less) Hacker News for more than two decades (using two accounts).

Back in 2005 when I started, there were very nice discussions, technical depth in comments, and it was my daily habit to read this before I start my office work. In fact, many people have started billion dollar companies from HN comments[0].

Now, all that is gone. Posts are too fast to follow. Too many identical posts, and too fast paced for anyone.

I still work in Software, but the feel of singularity is very high. Whatever is in discussion in HN is shallow, the topics are all around AI and I feel the pace is too much for me to relax and read (or read, relax, and think about it).

Can we get back to the state of human centric discussions rather than fast-paced AI advancement posts which has less human in it?

I've a Manager who loves one thing - Ask questions. No answer ever comes from him, but he keeps on asking questions. And as you can imagine, I am always at the end of it giving him answers. If I ask clarification questions back, he counters that with a "Five Why" type questioning and most of the time I get frustrated, owns it up to give answers and cut the conversation.

After a few months working under him, I started wearing out and started taking it personally. I started attacking him back. Not only did that cause friction between us, he gave me a bad performance review rating. I didn't give up and kept resisting one way questioning. I reminded company pays him for providing solutions and answers when his team is in need, and not sit there asking questions.

A friend of mine understood the pains I go through, and suggested I read the book, "How to master the subtle art of not giving a f*ck". I can say I am now at peace and don't care a sh#t about most things. I am still employed, but stopped worrying and taking things personally.

I currently live in the US. Back in India where I am originally from, we have house roof tops which are flat. Most of us would spend an hour or more on the roof top, after dinner, staring at the sky and talking. Sometimes we wave and talk to the neighbor from the roof top. This I would say is a routine thing in most households after dinner. I miss that dearly in the US.

I am a non-native English speaker currently residing in the US. As part of my job, I need to set up meetings day in and day out with Developers, QAs, Business Analysts, PM (Product and Project Managers). One thing I struggle at times is - What would be a near perfect title to put on the meeting invite to get their attention?.

Though I always put an agenda, the decisions to be made in the meeting as part of the meeting invite, I think a good title is what most invitees see when they look at their calendar. My idea of title is that, once they see the title , they should know the importance of the meeting, and also skip any unimportant ones to attend mine.

Any suggestions/thoughts based on what you use in your companies?
