Here's my theory: When some people saw that physics could be used to get great power, they decided to keep physics research a secret, in the hands of the few. So, they have been using governments and spies to keep it away from the masses (and hence adversaries). I believe string theory is a result of this.

Wrong! Oil-rich countries have every incentive to not let it happen, and that is exactly what they have been doing. For example, “but the Uighers” is a propaganda tactic (among others) developed by the current oil countries as an attack to the Chinese solar industry.

Depends. The control is on what research is done in the first place. For example, effectiveness of ivermectin was not even studied during Covid. New treatments that can be patented however was.

Aesthetic taste varies from culture-to-culture, even individual to individual. Sometimes, minimal and simple is beautiful.

I really thought that the pictures you were posting later were examples of ugly design (when I was glossing over it) and I found out that you were saying that that one looks good to you.

The one on top, the example of your ugly design, has natural beauty: a weathered concrete finish. I prefer that WAYYY more than any of the later examples.
