I think this will be a key differentiator, Google has been so obsessed with automation that it's painted itself in a corner when that automation is inadequate. Microsoft doesn't have a problem with doing things that don't scale when needed.

I specifically mentioned socializing at work and working with complex and controversial issues, how does buying something online relate to that? I also never said that people can't convey ideas while remote, the post I replied to made one vague mention of on-site requirements, I made none. Just the implication that on-site leads to better building of trust.

I would never personally advocate for full on-site and I am actually a supporter of full remote work. I just don't pretend it's already perfect and that we can function by just purely conversing about work like we are JIRA ticket machines.

Also, geographically distributed companies will still tend to have the majority of people in a team or sub-team in one area but nothing is 100%. Different geographies usually have different responsibilities. Companies will also do all kinds of other methods of team building that is mostly social to compensate like flying everyone to a singe location occasionally or remote activities.

Yes, there is a spectrum to everything and my comment was not absolute about working hours either. I was not proposing we go to the office full time, simply that socialization at work is a core piece of building trust at work which is fundamental to deep collaborative efforts.

And the implication obviously is that socialization works better in person, but I didn't say it was exclusive to that. The person I responded to did say something about on-site requirements but it was vague.

It's amazing how daft these guys are, socializing at work is a fundamental way of building better relationships and being able to deep dive into more complex and controversial issues. Humans operate off of trust and treating everyone as an anonymous worker bee is only a recipe for getting basic work done that streams down from management.

You only get 15 days to return it and a lot of us wait until the next patch to see if that fixes issues which are on a monthly cadence now. Unfortunately after buying so many Google devices unless some major changes happen I won't be buying another one.

It's not about being comfortable it's about plausibility, the cultures depicted in fantasy lore tend to be highly homogeneous and isolated to small geographical areas. If the show was demonstrating something like the Roman Empire it's more plausible, kind of like Game of Thrones.

Very true, browsing websites without AdBlock is already horrendous we can't allow it to bleed into the real world. We need to clamp down on ads with legal regulations, everything good is slowly ruined by them. Humans should have the right to live ad free as much as possible.

This bike is designed around removing the seat post so I wouldn't apply rules for other bikes here.

Anecdotally, I have never dropped my seat post even when stuffing a bike in the trunk and neither have my riding partners and a lot of us have carbon seat posts now so we don't grease them. Most of us are simply too iffy to mess with our riding configuration. I'm also sure professional bike fitters wouldn't use a solution that would inconvenience most of their customers. This urban frame lock bike is a very special case and should be treated as such.

Haha, I don't mean that there is a single universal size. I was trying to figure out if it's using a propriety seatpost as that's becoming more common.

My bike fitter put a sticker on mine, could replicate that with any tape really.

Can't say ventilation has been an issue for me on the Quest 2, I have a pleather type face cover and there is a hole by the nose area so it's not an air tight seal. I have done many long sessions with it.

It's trivial with most of the common cheaper equipment, you don't need a shop at all since the EU standard is mostly an arbitrary limitation and they try to reuse the same equipment worldwide. Expensive European bikes will actually have smaller motors so they will be physically limited.

In the US many bikes have an off-road mode that delimits them, no real effort required.

I view it as a way to apply a somewhat relevant filter to a large pool of candidates. It's something coding related with simple appeals such as scalability which makes every engineer quiver at the knees.
