I experienced it at my first role after college. I got a job at a hospital as an analyst. Many of my graduating peers applied. Only a few got in. It was odd because the first day the room was divided into two. Literally one side locals and the other side H1B. It’s a group that has less than 1% ethnicity in my area. It was really weird. It felt like there was a quota to hit 50% locals. There were a few experienced people with the software we were using. Most were not and the people that were had a citizenship. That analyst role didn’t even need a CS degree.

Does your company trade a global commodity like oil? The market prices it. Let’s say you had two buyers for your home with a market value of 300k. One buyer wanted to buy it for 240k and the other for 300k. Which offer would you take?

You missed the point they were trying to make: a company’s mission statement says they want to help humanity at a high level, but it turns out they’re doing more harm to it. We can’t control being born or nature. Humans control the companies in question that are doing the harm. You wrote a nothing burger. Almost like an AI slopping out text for the sake of noise.

I do this often. Every time I hear about a city or place in a video, book, or any other media, I immediately pause it and google map the location and if they have a street view I “walk” the streets. Probably a waste of time, but it helps me contextualize the place and people living there.

It will only amount to 3% of the US population. China’s cut out amounts to 13% percent. A 1.41 billion is a lot of people and I understand they don’t want to skew the results. If just taking account that slice, which a quick search says it’s 180 million people, that reading is more than half of the US population. It’s a matter of scale. I’m sure they can add some other provinces to total the US population and still have a higher score.

A wouldn’t say the Iraq finished in “a few weeks.” They knew if they just left it would go back to the same business as usual. So the USA stayed for years playing Sim City. Trillions of dollars all said and done doesn’t seem like a win. These proxy’s are just that, proxies, because foreign policy on a grander scale is harder to accomplish like with China or Russia. USA won one proxy in the region but it’s more akin to winning the battle not the war. Iran is showing this as I type.

Well it seems obvious that would happen. In fact, I think many more people are using them as doctors. You only get 30mins with a therapist and about 5 minutes in a crowded doctor’s office. It’s so great to go into detail and have the LLM cross reference everything better than using a search engine picking up every single detail.

> Why can't LLMs and agents progress further to do this software engineering job better than an actual software engineer?
Because a machine can never take accountability. If a software engineer throughout the entire year has been directing AI with prompts that created weaker systems then that person is on the chopping block, not the AI. Compared to another software engineer who directed prompts to expand the system and generate extra revenue streams.

I don’t see how the author isn’t embarrassed. Maybe it’s just me having imposter syndrome or maybe I can self reflect, maybe. If he used AI to slop all those articles up doesn’t he know any developer can use AI to get that content through the IDE? He’s trying to game something with a tool that effectively killed off that game in the first place.

Cash App is probably the biggest. I was surprised how many gen z people I talked to say they use cash app for everything from direct deposit to their tax returns.
