Welcome to the club.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aphantasia
I only know that terms like 'mental imagery' or 'daydreaming' aren't metaphorical because of another HN thread about it years ago. Turns out (to varying degrees) the vast majority of people have a TV in their minds they can switch on.

I understand that HN swings US and we don't like editorialising titles, but this one sucks. It's every Onewheel in the US. "Every single Onewheel" has a clearly absolutist meaning, and the title should be edited to reflect, or a [US] at the end at least.

> As a would-be parent, it is your duty to guarantee a comfortable childhood for your child. This means having a reliable and sufficient income stream to provide for a reasonably comfortable life. If you lack that sort of income, it is irresponsible to become a parent.
Unless your family is very well to-do, you likely only have to look back 2-3 generations on yourself (or anyone) to find parents who don't meet that line. Are you saying the vast majority of humanity are irresponsible parents, or do you believe this to be a new standard that must be followed?

I guess that depends on that womans interests. Many women (and men, but less) are simply not career driven. Many stay at home parents build wonderful social lives around other parents at playgroups, schools etc and see their friends more than their working comparatives. Your health is also in theory a lot easier to stay on top of without a job - not so much with small children, but definitely with double digits.

I don't think anyone's queuing up for shows, but it doesn't hold the same cultural history, so the sensitivity and care is much less. Blackface as a subject (e.g the episode of Scrubs where it's just a funny bit) doesn't spark any debate, removal or cancellation. It's seen in context.

> I suspect voice calling itself has become network deprioritized or still has trouble selecting between calling tech.
Whilst this may be true for normal voice, almost universally emergency calling is the highest network priority[0], knocking other voice and data sessions off another carriers tower if required.
0. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_telephone_number#Eme...

> it is not like I buy smartphones for emergency purposes
How strange. That's the main reason I expect most people (especially on HN) would own a mobile phone at all. The ability to be contactable/make contact in an emergency is the greatest value it holds, surely?

> make the world better
I really try hard not to mock people on HN, but you need to take a look in the mirror. Your sheltered world view of what "makes the world better" isn't reflective of everyone elses, nor objectively true. I'm glad you think it's good, but you must understand that those who don't agree aren't generally 'bigoted racists' or even people who "don't like" those making the changes.

> Sorry, but it's obvious that you are. This discussion is not about Git but about Tesla...
HN reguarly deviates off into tangentially related comment threads. _This_ discussion is about git master/main, although the parent one isn't.
> legacy non-inclusive terms
Love a good game of "spot the American".
Sure... But how much extra energy is consumer by people heating/cooling their 1-2 person homes now they're in it all day? Likely less than transit, and not zero. Regardless, the primary impact on climate change has always been and likely always will be those who manufacture your clothes, plastics, electronics etc - which people bought more over over said pandemic.
Rural areas invaded by "COVID refugees" are broadly losing out on their culture and filling with yuppies with too much money and no interest in community.
I admire your passion, but the problems are more complex.

> It seems more likely that people would retain a similar ratio of slacking to working.
Got it in one. Humans are creatures of habit. You (yes you, oh 10x HN reader) reading this may actually be hyperaware enough to analyse your weeks work and stuff it into 4 days, but I strongly suspect the vast majority of workers would coast the same amount (whatever that number may be) regardless of days worked.
