Unsupported devices can always become somehow supported and enabled. To harden computer, you remove WiFi cards, cut on-board antennas, desolder mics and speakers, desolder USB ports...
I did that for computer that was used to sign bitcoin transactions offline. User typed hashes manually...

> often wonder how technology would look today if Netscape hadn’t been crushed for threatening Microsoft’s os dominance
> technologies went through a dark age without innovation until Chrome
IE was pretty innovative, it introduced AJAX (async javascript requests...), web version of Outlook in 1998...
There was also Opera browser, pretty innovative, it introduced tabs, mouse gestures, user styles, no script, basic adblocking... It could run on anything, even phone without MMU.

I would invert the title a bit:
The quality of your life strongly depends on how many bad people you manage to avoid.
People are mostly OK and reasonable to deal with. Some super duper partner will not increase quality of your life 10 times. There is still work, kids and so on.
But bad partner or friend can easily make your life 10x worse, or even put you in jail.
> there are Diminishers and there are Illuminators.
Self-help bs. Normal people are too busy with their lives and paying bills , and will not do some monkey dance to "illuminate" your path.
