<p>There's a lot of small towns where buying Main Street wouldn't be an outrageous cost. It's got some appeal. Go in and make it work again.<p>But when you get down to the "How?" it quickly becomes apparent that the inertia is strong and the odds of success are extremely low.<p>Still, it's a fun daydream.</p>

<p>It seems related to the car not being aware there was an injured person under it.<p>It's not hard to imagine that it's simply unequipped to know something like that, and it does seem fair to require that it become so equipped.<p>Huge supporter of autonomous cars, still feel like this is completely reasonable to require a solution for.</p>

<p>2011 here. Fully remote teams for more of that.<p>It does take time and active effort to become fully productive in a remote environment. It's not something you're just born knowing how to do, it's a set of skills just like working in an office is a set of skills. You have to learn them.</p>

<p>I've never gone back to an old company.<p>But I have worked for a previous manager again. He left the original company too, but set up contracting as an outside consultant to the software we built. He'd hire me to do some of the work as needed. Great gig for him, not bad for me.<p>That's not that rare of a setup if you're working on large B2B software packages.</p>
