This is unacceptable for paying customers.

Either 1) infrastructure for paying and non paying customers must be separated, 2) excessive load must be ended by not offering the free tier anymore or 3) they must fix their broken monolith but they are seemingly incapable of doing so.

If any JDK wizard is present:

In my opinion, the thing the JRE is REALLY missing is a single process level memory limit setting.

Nowadays you still have to consider the off heap memory when limiting a JRE processes max memory.

To clarify: -XX:MaxRAMPercentage should not exist. Instead the process should be told: „You can use x mb/gb of memory. Use of that what you need for offheap and use the rest for heap.“

That setting is embarassing. Figuring out its value is a mixture of voodoo, vibe-driven guessing and playing the game of „how much wasted memory do you want to risk to prevent a crash?“.

Give us -XX:MaxProcessMemory=4g please. Why doesn‘t this exist?

Maybe research is sufficiently public and simple to reproduce or the next steps of how to improve things are sufficiently obvious to the smart people working on frontier AI.

I still don‘t know if this is real. If it works like that, where are the companies that only kept every tenth, 10x‘d AI enhanced dev? They should have significantly higher margins. The companies that keep all devs and 10x‘d them, finally bringing that backlog to 0 should have exploding revenue and profit.

Where does AI create value? I can‘t see it.

I use it every day, but nothing got faster.

As a European, both the idea of taking a loan for a useless degree and the idea of considering this loan you took out of your own free will as an adult as some kind of evil and malicious thing you shouldn‘t have to pay back are extremely bizarre to me.

As a teenager, I tried to get addicted to cigarettes so I could stand by the cool kids and smoke with them. I started smoking 4-6 cigarettes a day but hated it so much, I couldn't continue after a week or two...

It's really bad when you let opus do investigations on broken java or infrastructure stuff. It starts decompiling .jar, sometimes multiple versions of the same dependency, reading every single kubernetes/terraform file and loading all the logs and info kubectl offers.

I am still quite confused on the scientific consensus:

Should we double down on renewable energy and solve its issues with lots of batteries or should we invest in next generation nuclear energy?

Both at the same time?

Does anyone know?
