The need to search for what they are being exposed to already outs them as being out of touch. Them coming to the wrong conclusion only cements their misunderstanding for both the industry's status-quo and the experiences lived by up-and-commers.

MY partner also had a hard time getting it, at the age of 26. I also had a hard time getting it, at age 26.

People read the recommendation guideline, and brainlessly follow it without care of why it's in place. If you haven't had a reason to be exposed by 30, 30 is as good of a time to get the shot as 9.

One of the few times I can say the majority of medical practitioners don't know what they are talking about when they spit dogma instead of life-saving sense.

If this is the case, I do wonder why we do not see more of this.

Were you around for the original design phase? Why was C chosen? Did you and yours collect performance metrics to see if anything meaningful was gained?

I aspire to be one who cares about performance, but I would like to address:

"I do everything in interpreted languages that do 10,000 things behind the scenes for every line of code I write."

Is it even possible to create a modern website, or product, without this? How long would the development cycle take, if everything is to be written in C?

I'd wager that replicating a "minimalist styling" for a react-based website with a dozen or so components would take dozens of times longer to produce.

It seems beyond absurd to me, that this tiny animation should be costing as much as 6% of CPU.

There has to be more optimal ways to do this.

I've been working with React for a while but mostly on legacy class-based codebases. I'm transitioning into more modern React (hooks, server components, concurrent rendering, etc.) and want to level up my understanding.

There are so many tutorials and courses out there, but many seem outdated or contradict each other—I am specially weary of Udemy, where it seems to me courses are given trivial 'updates' to rank highly on their algorithm, but the bulk of content remains dated. I'm looking for resources (articles, courses, repos, or even books) that focus on:

- Idiomatic use of hooks - Component architecture and maintainability - Performance best practices - Patterns used in production-scale apps - What's considered "good style" in the React community in 2025

Bonus points for resources that come from experienced engineers or teams using React at scale.

What do you recommend?
