This is the right take. In my opinion, AI can’t ever be conscious but I can’t really prove it - moreover it’s not even a scientific stance because it’s not even falsifiable. But it probably doesn’t matter.

I'm no expert but at least in the initial stages of resuscitation, the cost is relatively low. Paramedics doing CPR, defibrillation, some epinephrine, then in the ER they'll intubate, get some lines in, push more epi and maybe amiodarone - pretty basic stuff that's more about doing it fast than expensive equipment. I don't think it adds up to a ton… well yes American healthcare is absurdly expensive, but this particular aspect isn't extraordinary. The initial resuscitation steps are about timing, not fancy drugs

Anecdotally I worked in the emergency department and ICU for 2.5 years as a scribe and translator in undergrad (ending about 7 years ago) and never saw a single person successfully revived. In the sense that everybody who ever got revived to the point that your dad did, in my experience, died.

The attitude in this article is suffocating. I’m 40, healthy, and picked up cheap generic Cialis for the hell of it with no shame, no crisis. It flipped my sex life on its head, instantly. The real scandal is how cheap, safe, and transformative this stuff is, and yet the medical world acts like you’re doing something dangerous by just wanting better sex. It’s not a problem. It’s the most fun I’ve had in years.

I had the same exact issues on generic Vyvanse, which also causes me intense palpitations compared to the brand-name, I legit thought I was going to have a heart attack several times a day. So much so, that I quit it altogether—I couldn’t stand the side effects or the constant unavailability of the brand-name.
