This has been my mental shift as well. I also decide this when someone tells me the site only works in Chrome, so I should switch to Chrome. No, thanks.

There is some syntax highlighting for Terraform in nano, so maybe I should try rolling with the terminal for a while.

I use vscode for doing devops-y things (Terraform, OpenTofu, JSON, python, yaml, txt, dockerfiles, etc.) and sometimes the way it bogs down my system drives me bananas. I'll punt to Sublime Text on occasion and use it for a few days, but then start running into papercuts in various places and have to go back to vscode. I so, so wish there was a better way to do this without fucking electron.

If you think Spotify has only done one bad thing, you're delusional.

There's mountains of evidence that shows how they regularly fleece artists. Just last week this site hosted a story that researched how they're now using AI to generate fake music to avoid paying artists even further.

They pay a fortune to Joe Rogan, a man who is willfully destroying the country by spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories.

This company is responsible for so, so much damage.

Before you all get too excited, please remember that Exchange admins can control which clients are allowed to connect to their service, and Microsoft actively advises them to shut out everything but recent versions of Microsoft clients.

Source: me, at almost all of my jobs, after being told to lock people out for using third party clients.

The only thing people are missing here is that it's not just about the hardware, it's about Chrome in particular.

Our school system "requires" the use of the Chrome browser because of the third-party plugins that only support Chrome. The school board thinks the best way to do that is... of course... to buy Chromebooks.

They're awful. Terribly slow, constantly breaking, and a total disaster. I'd love to see MacBooks come into use here, but sadly it's not just about the hardware. The school board has to stop being lured by shitty software vendors.

Yes, I'd love to vote them out.
