I want through the same processen three times already.
I work in civil service but in a very specific job that needs certain degrees by law.
I've heard they were going to outsource my job (because civil servant are expensive) and registered a company that delivers the requested services. I entered a public procurement and upped my price a little because I knew there aren't many people with the right certifications. I won the public procurement and went from a civil servant to a self employed expert with a company car and all the perks.
Near the end of my contract they thought about hiring their own expert again because... money.
I applied for the job and went through an external hiring process and got selected. Because legislation changed my job went from middle management to a senior management position with extra benefits. Had to drop the car though...
A few months ago my colleagues were doing prekilinary budget talks and considered on finding an external company to do my job and getting me another position. I had to point out the cycle they fell into and somehow they forgot about it.

Who's talking about 1900? We have a part in the city that was built in the 1600's. These buildings have thick stone walls that are prone to condensation during the summer.
It's easy to deal with when you open a window in the morning or keep the bathroom door open after showering.
These buildings will have ventilation eventually but the code needs about 20 years to take full effect.
Mind you that people have been living in those buildings for hundreds of years without issues but tennants these days don't seem to have the basic skill of airing their place.

I meant that in our country vermin is a tennants issue, not the owner's. Only when the state of the building (large holes) facilitates the ingres of insects or rodents you could mobilise tge landlord.

Yes, but no. We have historic, sometimes even mediaeval buildings. They weren't built with the current energy efficiency in mind.
Leaving the bathroom door open after showering. Not putting furniture flus against the wall are simple measures you could take that don't need structural adaptations.
I know there are plentiful of technical options but some common sense goes a long way.

The Decahlon folder folds faster than a Brompton. A friends of mine has both and he's trying to convince me on buying the cheap decathlon bike over a Brompton. The demonstration was convincing.
I'm a big fan of the fact that you can push a Brompton while folded. A feature that other folders miss.

I am aware of the trap they set up. That's why I brothers me that the don't teach with FOSS in design schools. They'l do their studentes a favor. It's easier to switch from any FOSS alternative to Adobe cc than otherwise.

$120 a year for professional use is dirt cheap.
My daughter is a graphic design student and gets a free CC ride during her studies. If she would have to pay for the apps should would have a hard time.
What bothers me is that the school doesn't allow students using open source software. They're all locked in the closed ecosystem and keep their students in software jail too.

You could use an alternative service like futo voice input.
https://voiceinput.futo.org/

I think Belgium is the most stable unstable country in the world.
We're always on strike, only surpassed by the French. At any given moment one of our seven governments is in a state of crisis.
Somehow I feel like we'll make it though three days of lockdown without any issues.
I tried to sign up as a reservist - civil personell - because I feel like my logistic expertise could come in handy but sadly I passed 40 a few years ago and I'm deemed to old for service, even as a reservist.

Belgian youngsters aged 17 wil get a voluntary call for 'vacation camps' in the army in a few weeks.
Recently a lot of people were hired four the federal and regional governments to handle strategic supplies. All Belgians were asked to stock their own 3 day emergency kit.
