The US is functionally a Third World country now. There are so many places worse than us that have so many better things. Anytime you see a little thing like this that is a good idea and helps people you can just assume that America would either fuck it up or just hate it because it helps people. Or because of the fact that they can’t ring every penny from the stone.

This was almost a useful write up until he used the stupid redditism “lost my faith in humanity”. Immediate stop right there and user block across the whole site. It is unfortunate that even he is trained to say what he thinks Reddit wants to hear.

Req is on LinkedIn. I’m the HM so I see all applicants. Figured with the awful US job market I’d see if I could show it to more people.

It's not clever when people use HN at work. It's a complete erosion of user trust and could legitimately get someone fired. You think HR wants to hear oh no it was an object lesson in not using javascript. That's why I was searching for nudes on the work computer when I shared my screen at that meeting, not realizing some moron had programmatically changed the tab name when I clicked off. This domain needs banned. It's not operating in good faith, or in touch with the reality of the damage it could be doing.

It's super cool that this site changes the tab name to NSFW phrases when you switch off of it, and then pops up a rambling chastisement to turn of JS in your browser. Even cooler when I use HN to legitimately keep up with tech news at work and it does it on my work computer where I share my screen in meetings. Domain blocked. Don't erode user trust for your crusade. Moron.

Being this much of a bootlicker for mega corps under the guise of "law abiding" is dumb. It's also and incredibly disingenuous argument. Stealing a physical thing is one thing, bit perfect copying of a digital item removes it from nobody's possession. And since I don't believe that companies have the right to infinite money for having stolen enough from previous endeavors to buy up the rights to things people like, taking it in any way you can is lawful regardless of if it's legal.

I like to leave room for a generous interpretation of things. Again though, I find piracy to be more compulsory than optional in the fight against corporations that have more money than God and fewer morals than Satan.

So is this piracy then? Don't me me wrong. I think piracy is a moral imperative, but I'm curious how far this sits in the gray area.

>you just go straight for the Zuck.
Will literally never happen. It's impossible. I'm not talking figuratively impossible. At his level of wealth and influence, there are good odds he could murder someone on live stream and walk away. You are dangerously underestimating the influence the rich have in every aspect of society and law.

>Sometimes I think my opinion means nothing on these topics, especially when it's going to get buried in a thread of 500 plus comments.
Ironically, starting your response with this guarantees a lot of people won't read it. It's the same as going on reddit and starting a reply with, "Nobody will see this but", and hoping that people try to prove you wrong by reading and commenting on it. I stopped after the first sentence. People really have to stop with the clickbait vomit way of writing.

I haven't read this article, but I can tell you for certain that no verdict was handed down that will punish them in any way that matters. They have and generate more money than they could ever spend and they're functionally above the law because of the money and lawyers they can afford. The law itself is broken in this country and when you get big enough you can literally get away with murder.
