I can't speak for any other countries, but from the American perspective, civics education in this country is really lacking. If citizens don't understand the basics of the American government works, it's very easy for people like Trump to lie to them. Media literacy classes would also be helpful. A lot of citizens are not capable of separating fact from fiction.

I really liked the information in this movie. I didn't hear anything that I didn't already know, but I thought it was well done. I really hope people turn away from these technologies. I feel like the only way we can heal our information ecosystem is buy educating people about the dangers of a social media heavy information diet. I think we also need to be mindful of the identities within us that these algorithms are exploiting. Ask yourself how you feel when you get off these sites. My answer was always "mad', "angry" or "sad". Once you realize the effect these sites have on your mood, you're a lot more motivated to change your behavior.

I know this gets said over and over again, but it's so depressing to look at what major social networking sites have become. I remember actually having fun on Facebook and twitter when they were in there early years. I feel like when I used Facebook in high school I didn't have this overwhelming sadness and whenever I logged off.

Yeah, the learning curve was pretty steep for me. I've been learning some C# for my job, and it's been a lot easier after learning basic Python. SQL is kind of weird in the sense that starting out is very very very easy, but mastering it is incredibly hard. I've been writing SQL everyday for about 3 years and I'm still blown away with what the SQL experts at my company can do with the language. I see presentations at conferences that make me feel like an absolute beginner.

I'm a data engineer and I learned SQL before I learned python. I started out as a marketing specialist (mostly working in Google AdWords), then I graduated up to BI Analyst, and eventually to data engineer. I've picked up 100% of my python in my current job.
