NEC is great but their affordable panels are largely only seen on facebook marketplace. Great construction, panel quality and I/O, just a little bit heavy

Surely this would happen but it'll be k-shaped as all things are now. Areas that are in insurance deserts due to (worsening) natural disasters will probably be the hardest hit, those and the slots in unmaintained x-plexes owned by those with bad credit ratings.

I wish there was a way I could get educational-only youtube as an adult. It would really help to remove the irrelevant suggestions and keep me from listening to so much music

g-code brings back a nostalgic pang, that was what we used before STL was common in 3d-printing. It's kind of amazing to read in this story just how tightly knit a community like this can be despite its industrial nature, what are the worthy touring spots that GM security wouldn't take issue with?

this website is a marvel, the fact that there are over 100 year old concrete ships still floating makes me wonder if there are concrete or nonmetallic ships still being constructed today for secondary purposes like carrying garbage or as bridges

The number of people blasting video on a regional flight with no internet really made me reconsider just how necessary airplane mode is. Probably an applicable case study for many other societal boundary-breaches silently spreading.

You realize that humans are an invasive species in most places they currently reside, right?

> Omni Trio being played regularly

that seals it.. my nostalgia for this time (from many an adult's tale in my young life) was not misplaced.

If only it still felt like this, you can see it sometimes, if only a little. And maybe we'll feel the same way looking back to now from what will be.

I think they would prefer the company that runs their messaging system lack the capacity to mess up and leak internal communications.

> Publishers should be more careful what they wish for. you think they don't like people destroying their books? if you destroy a book, that increases the value of the others and the unpublished holdings (unfortunately)

the mass-market-ification of: clothing(world clothelessness used to be a severe problem, paper clothes existed for a reason), AC, light vehicles, solar: all things after the 20th (and even 21st century) that are worth saving. Even with the seeming doom, things do get better.

I think a happy medium like signal would be much better, slack is an immovable part of much of the (white-collar) business relationship world now but it'd be nice if there were assurances of secrecy and security in communication as 24/7 cyberattacks rather than a company whose security is based solely on promises rather than zero-knowledge systems. Signal has had far and away the best cross-platform messaging experience of any client I've used in friend groups but moving to a slack-like system alongside what exists now would be much appreciated to the noisy channel approach.
