I remember editing my then girlfriend’s (now wife) papers in university, when she was struggling to explain something succinctly. I’d ask her: well what are you trying to say? And she would explain it to me, clear as day. “Just write that.”

I have been enjoying building a CD and vinyl collection recently. IMO there is no better listening experience than putting a disc on a reasonably high end sound system, and sitting down with the liner notes and reading about what you are hearing. No screens, just music. It’s really quite something these days.
My 2 year old son is also enjoying this process. There is something magical about him asking to “see” the music, and getting excited about the album art. Some of his music requests are based on the album art — usually ones that actually depict the musicians.

I think a lot of families actually restrict or eliminate screen time altogether, and gather round using either no technology, old technology, or new technology that imitates old technology, e.g. Yoto. There is value found in reducing our technology use. Some people may want to avoid AI on ethical grounds, or may be cautious about the cognitive effects of its use.

When you brake you generate a ton of heat.
Doing a U-turn generates less heat, but still quite a bit. The train will have to slow down depending on the radius of the curve, and even then the turn will slow it down some more.
But yeah, less heat generation means kinetic energy is conserved.
Cars have to slow down when they turn because it’s too much to ask of the tires to accelerate (throttle) and turn, since turning is in itself acceleration.

I, too, use both Desmos and Geogebra in my classroom. One of my favourite things about Geogebra is the ability to export to tikz. It can save a lot of time when making complex geometry problems while keeping things nice and neat in your latex file. I also like using the Geogebra 3D AR app to get kids to see the different ways planes intersect, and what a parameterized solution “looks like” in a 3x3 system. It makes for a lot of “aha” moments.
On the other hand Desmos is quick, easy to use, and looks nice. The test-mode app works well on phones and the College Board will be using it for their AP exams this year, so they must be doing something right. Their new 3D apps look promising but I haven’t played with them much, yet.
Both tools have their place, but my heart is 100% with Geogebra.
