They should definitely put up a statement addressing it. Moreover what they plan in the future to avoid such traumatic event, this is not a “simple sign program”, this touches fundamental parts of the OS.

I think he means it's not economic viable to the companies, however as you can see the Swiss model was defined by politics.
Even though, I agree with you it's possible, in my city the internet only got better when a monopoly was broken, and a state company decide to work in a new infrastructure, all FTTH, now I pay less than 100BRL for 300/150Mbps with that price 10 years ago it was only possible ADSL connections (25Mbps).
Now every major provider do have FTTH infra with great prices.

Tbh I do not think the idea is to "police" you, I do believe he means to show that "side load apps" is a corporate speech to say "don't do this, but we allow it". However it's literally just installing software.
Let's apply the "side load" apps logic to Desktop applications, imagine you have to pass for an entire process just to install an app you downloaded?

Thank you for the answer now it made more clearer, at least for me, on what you meant.
And to be fair, when I was at 4.x version, 90% of the time I was in the happy path, my "being slow" issue was when download speeds got really bad, sometimes caused by my ISP, so my end.
As others mentioned, homebrew is a great piece of software, thank you, not only you but everyone who maintains it.

Thank you, his arguments totally makes sense, only the part that makes me icky is:
> There’s a new vibe coded Homebrew frontend with partial compatibility and improved speed every few weeks.
People are free and probably do this because it is slow. Alternatives often are not a bad thing.

Again, you are missing the point, just because something is "likely" to happen doesn't mean it did happen.
What you are basically asking is that we should provide a "negative proof", imagine me going through all the pro matches to prove my point that it did not happen (going in this extreme) when you can just show me a proof that it did happen.
