ChatGPT for health questions is the best use case I have found (Claude wins for code). Having a scratch pad where I can ask about any symptom I might feel, using project memory to cross reference things and having someone actually listen is very helpful. I asked about Crohn's disease since my grandfather suffered from it and I got a few tests I could do, stats on likelihood based on genetics, diet ideas to try and questions to ask the doctor. Much better than the current doc experience which is get the quickest review of my bloods, told to exercise and eat healthy and a see you in six months.

Part of me thinks it is probably activists within ICANN that think the Houthis are liberators. I also think that it's not really ICANN's/IANA's responsibility to determine which government gets control of a domain during a civil war/uprising. It becomes too difficult for them to be the arbiter of who is the government of a particular country. How long must the Houthis control the country before they get to control the domain? Is there a percentage of the country they should control before being given the keys? If a "good" leader from another faction took over the country should the Houthis retain control until that new leader proves their goodness somehow?

I agree that we are only going to see solidification of languages due to tools like Claude Code. Why would I take a risk on something new if I can't use a much faster tool, it can already be such a battle getting adoption in mid/large companies. I wonder how a release like React would fare if it was released in another 5-10 years once LLMs are deeply embedded.

At some point the majority will learn that no matter the public messaging most large companies will do what benefits their incumbency over what is best for the industry or customers.

If the product isn't making enough money to pay people by year 5 you're not a startup founder you're just unemployed with a side project.

In my experience there has never been a good time to be a founding engineer even in companies that have later made it. It's much better to join the company 1-3 years prior to IPO/Sale where you get many of the benefits but significantly less stress. If I had worked at startups I would have been taking a 30-40% pay cut compared to the roles I did work and none of those startups have gone anywhere with most crashing and burning.

This whole thing seems like a way to build a regulatory framework so only the existing, largest AI players can continue and there is too much regulation for anyone else to enter the industry.

If the site becomes popular e.g. "#1 Landlord Review Site" then everyone will be checking their reviews on it. If it's never popular and not used often then it doesn't matter if it's clear text or not.

How anonymous can it be? Sure, if you were dealing with a city-wide management company they can keep it somewhat anonymous but saying "John Smith, landlord at 123 Fake St" with the review on a set date is a pretty good indication of who left the review. Even for management companies it would not take a lot of investigation to find the reviewer.

People don’t want alternatives because we lived through the IE and flash days. Having a fragmented ecosystem for web makes every project more expensive, difficult to hire for and hard to maintain.

Having actually watched the video which seems to be rare in this debate there was really nothing bad or misleading about the content. He genuinely reviews the product and shows it working without any editing or magic. It's an exploratory product that just doesn't work that well and as others have said if it had redeeming aspects surely the fanboys would be jumping to the product's defence. The people criticising MKBHD seem to be upset he would not blindly support the company rather than providing anything good about the product. New products get dragged all the time, it's part of launching in the modern world but it's up to the business to prove them wrong.

There are so many teachers explaining how and why kids don't fail anymore and that leads to issues from grade 1 to graduation. At some point people just need to _do the thing_.

Is this written by someone that lost money gambling on NFTs? I don't think the demo is particularly bad and it's known that demos are the happy path so don't expect full functionality in the recording. I think every customer demo I have ever done has involved some form of magic or omissions while features were built in the background. Having not heard of this company before it looks like they have made a few attempts at different ventures but unless this is an outright scam I don't think it's worth hammering like this. People need to try things and sometimes ideas don't work out.

There is a lot to be said for just hosting your own VPS and learning how it works especially for smaller sites. The effort to host is small and you're not going to get smashed with a bill like this.

Growing up in a suburban environment was pretty boring. Bikes made it a bit better because we could at least ride around the place but with no malls or activity zones (lakes/pools/forests etc) around it just meant that we wandered a lot.
