New comment by Zombieball in "Show HN: Keyboard Jobs – A job board which truly understands software developers"

Honest question: would many developers reject a job based upon the version control system the company uses? Or the laptop OS given for that matter?

> Am I missing something?

There’s numerous videos pouring in of individuals going into local businesses to harass and threaten employees while flaunting they aren’t wearing masks.

These individuals likely don’t represent the majority. But it doesn’t feel like just a few bad apples.

You could put it in a lambda function.

New comment by Zombieball in "Olympus quits camera business after 84 years"

Zombieball — Thu, 25 Jun 2020 23:46:04 +0000

While the high price of an A7 probably slowed new customers rushing to Sony over Olympus I think the primary reason customers stuck with Olympus was "vendor lock-in" with lens mounts. People likely bought multiple m43 mount lenses to go with their Olympus or Panasonic. A customer would be more likely to buy another one of these brands if they had an existing lens collection over switching to the A7.

Note: I am reluctant to use the term vendor lock-in as the idea behind m43 was to have multiple camera manufacturers adopt a common lens mount. The fact that Sony and Canon have their own mounts is a net negative in my opinion.

Why do you think that?

I thought fake reviews were typically from humans? Bot protection / human verification seems like the wrong front to be tackling.

I think you misunderstand how much planes cost. Many GA pilots aren’t rich. You can by a Cessna 150 for $16k as an example:

The pilot of this is likely not some rich individual undergoing clandestine operations.

Quick search on Apple store (Canada prices):

Watch series 540mm, sports band, gps + cellular: $659 AirPods and regular charging case: $219 Combo = $878

iPhone 11 = $979

You could pick different models to make either case true (eg. iPhone XR is $799, watch series 3 cellular is $429). But nonetheless watch + AirPods is pretty close to the price of a phone it seems!

Are you sure about that? On an iPhone I can delete three of those apps (just verified). Android doesn’t allow the same?

New comment by Zombieball in "Why Canada's cannabis bubble burst"

Zombieball — Sun, 29 Dec 2019 09:51:08 +0000

In downtown Vancouver the government website only lists one “legal” cannabis store yet a quick google search shows +20 listings:

https://justice.gov.bc.ca/cannabislicensing/map

I would suspect that many people purchasing on the black market are in fact purchasing from stores (not just “their weed guy”) but don’t realize the store is not properly licensed.
