As a foreigner, I'm super interested but somewhat lacking in knowledge on this subject. Could you expand on this being the repercussions of the bailout? I felt scammed when I read about it and my country wasn't even very heavily affected by the crisis (I was a wee lad back then though).

Yes, it was part of the Bluetooth file transfer spec[0] and possible between any two devices that implemented it correctly.

Hi! I've spent the past few weeks rebuilding my web framework with a bunch of new stuff and I'd love to hear what you all think! It's got fine-grained reactivity but tries to stay as close to the DOM as possible (all methods work with HTMLElement and standard JS features) but still provide an easy-to-use API, and fits in under 5kb gzipped. A lot of the methods and utils can also be used on the server, though there isn't really anything SSR-specific yet.

So, the website is essentially an HTTP interface for managing an MQTT broker. You create an account, make a "room" (application concept, not part of mqtt), and then put your account name and the room secret phrase into the device (it throws up a captive portal). The device then uses these to connect to the broker to an MQTT topic that's sha256(secret) and from there it's just simply passing messages between devices.

Hello Hacker News! I've spent the last 6 months or so designing and building this, The Attention Button. It's an IoT desk toy that lets you send a quick nudge to whoever you hold dear, letting them know you're thinking of them. Like a direct line to their attention. It is my first major electronics project and I have learnt so much making it. I'd love to hear what you guys think!

McDonnell Douglas seems to have gotten it done, from a quick skim of [1]. It appears they ran out of funding and the program was cancelled. According to the same article,

I just have a long text file with notes of all different things in it which I grep through as necessary for todos etc. But for time tracking I didn't really like what was available so I (shameless plug) built etu[0]. It's free and open source and I quite enjoy it.
