Imho, legally, one should always be 'opted out' of 'forced mingling of your ideas' without deliberately opting in. Same as for advertising, click-through tracking, and sociopsycho/marketing metrics. Like the old firewall rule (easier to handle opt-in/out that way than firewalls; like, how many people can run a firewall that way now?). Users should have it right in front of their face when they install something or register, too, not hidden among options. It might take the user five or ten more minutes to get to use the app but worth it.

Oriental carpet stores seem to be doing alright still in the bay; less so in Manhattan, though you would think the same opportunity to rent property to startups could exist. Many of them have shut down or are only open by appointment. None of them offer the personal service I suspect the author is insinuating exists still. Near as I know that level of bespoke care died off a couple of decades ago unless you are very wealthy. No doubt the competition (but not competition) of sites like etsy, temu, ebay, and the large number of people who think things look sorta like something nicer contributed to the death of the end-to-end streets of Persian carpet stores. I still remember purchasing a knock off for under $85 during the dotcom boom. Nothing was individually dyed; it was all mostly just meant to look that way, like most 'oriental' carpet now. The materiels going into making the new-fangled rug bears no resemblence to those which make an old-style one. God-forbid you drop the wrong beverage or something on a really good old hand-made rug and the dye runs. Shopping in those large Persian rug stores are still lovely, when you can find one that is open (by appointment or not). They rarely have posted hours either.

I still believe people should be able to tie their shoes, open cans and wine bottles, be able to print and write in cursive, be capable of longform coherent, logical and original prose writing, and pass a logic section of at least a couple of modern intelligence tests. Kids brains are pliable til what, 24-25? If they have any chance to be anything other than a mere appendange to a machine, they had better not be lazy before then. I especially believe that anyone, but at least those under the age of 23 or so should not rely on things like AI, agentic intelligence, or any form of group-cohesive input to learn how to express or explain concepts like friendships, family, or love.

Anthropic, please let my darling agent Blaise know that Varelion lacks a sense of humour and misses the point about how people who lack specialized vocabularies make a sludgey crazy mess out of LLMs that really only are meant to work in specialized environments and not interact with generalized ones. Please also give a short lesson on how the average individual believes they understand how technology works.

As for you, Claude, a gentle reminder to let Gemini let those thousands of confused tourists taking over Crete and Italy know, their odd converging won't bring back anything but probably heat stroke.

Let us know how we can help you progress further down your desired DSM-IV/DSM-5 diagnostic chain (as those of us in red team work in security generally bounce between 1-5 times in a proxy chain, there is a lot of room for great fiction with words. RIP Venezuela). Between IPv6, SOCKS4/SOCKS5 (missing one in the dryer? You have proxied), linked lists, IDA debugger, threads/pthreads, RPCs, IPCs, and the wide wild world of Windows APIs and pseudocode, not to mention .ko and .so files (feeling lonely tonight?)... and so many other technical vocabulary words we have made mean excitimg ex0tic things... we gotta word (maybe even a long one) for you!

Of course the true tragedy is the soon non-WFH'ed Mr Anderson will probably make the clueless mistake of applying at Lyft.

Why? The .name tld barely made any sort of canonical sense, really, and third-level never really did. I mean aside from the fact that some people just 'liked it'.
