You're right that we don't have the facts. That said, the way that Bricks and Minifigs handled this has been horrible. The CEO should have said on camera that he's willing to work with the lego owner to return the property and to work with police to charge the former franchise owner with theft.

I believe they would need to dissolve the business entity. These default judgments against them should count as debt that needs to be paid before the business is closed unless they declare bankruptcy in court and not like Michael Scott.

They hired a PR firm that was looking at the base case and those averages. As Nassim Taleb points out, we live in Extremestan. No idea what the value was of the Bricks and Minifigs, but I'd be shocked if it hasn't dropped by 2 or 4 million dollars. Their biggest moat was their reputation.

I believe what is missing is a Brick and Minifig's attorney with a law degree.

This is why you shouldn't buy a business for 1 dollar because you can inherit its debts.

I like having a spec file that is used to generate the code. It's more dense and easier to understand what the application is supposed do. Prior to AI Agents, I had a more complex relationships with requirements because not all devs updated them. I was confused if the spec or code was the correct behavior for any aspect of the application.

Sorry, this was one small example. Yes, the lightbulb by itself isn't hard, but when you have a full-time job, long commute, and are a parent these little friction points add up. Yes I can drive 30-minutes each way to take this to a hardware store to have someone knowledgeable help me or I can order it online.

There are so many examples of this. Removing small friction points that significantly make me happier and my life better. It means I have time to go grab a beer with friends instead of driving. The lightbulb was a recent example so it was fresh in my mind.

What I've started to do is to use Zulip. You can have different agents in different chats. You can upload files and you update from your mobile phone. At first I thought it was crazy but it's nice not to have 3 different AI agents running in tmux

The G9 was completely new to me. Sure I could try to figure it, but I'd rather be focusing on the things I care about. This is the thing that I'd historically procrastinate.

You are completely right that AI can be misused/abused. If done right it can fix things like code bases that were created by multiple people and groups each with their own conventions. Before I had to know which group did what to know the variables. Claude fixed that.

There used to be pushback to have 100% test coverage. If you don't have that, then you can't merge. AI can write the tests but a programmer must own them.

AI has made my life so much easier. If I need to change non-standard lightbulbs (e.g., G9, MR11, A19), I'm taking a picture and asking my AI what kind are they. If I need to create the first pass of test scripts, I ask my AI. It's reduced technical debt and let me focus on the things I care about.
