I mean click-bait par excellence. No shit it would come from0.1% of someone else. Give me something like three headed baby, you know that enquirer stuff, just class it up. Theres like 10,000 research articles published every year, there’s gotta be some damn interesting speck in this business.

Thank you for your promotion of HVDC! Especially given the context of its weak electrical reacts new compared to HVAC which mutates cellular DNA much much more! (Strong hypothesis: positive correlation of cancer rates with electrical power transmission in the 20th century…please research the epidemiology for yourselves)

New comment by achillesheels in "Ask HN: How is the tech scene in LA?"

achillesheels — Mon, 07 Jul 2025 21:33:37 +0000

Echoing the difficulty in making friends - it is a horridly transient city with no real intentions for newcomers to establish roots - and the techies are less ambitious compared to the Bay Area or NYC. RSUs are silver-cuff links, as earning 3-5x the Guatemalan Hotel Office Manager puts one on a different cultural experience. (It’s America’s Brazil)

But weather is incontestable, food culture exciting, if you have a creative itch to scratch you can bump into a major creative professional accidentally at a bar (like a TV animator or music recording producer/engineer who works for one of the major labels) and before you know it you have a pilot episode or album you’re ready to pitch. shrugs

LAX will get you anywhere in the world non-stop and is easier to make compared to JFK.

Not completely, anyways. But I can empathize with someone who is cold at night and someone is who is a Miami Dolphins fan. Both are typically displeasant.

Pretty cool! I’m working in this space right now with architects and building owners. The science has advanced unto a certain knowing of melatonin secretion getting in the way of mental alertness under poor artificial illumination.

Hit me up if you’re interested in learning more or how I can move your office space towards a renovation on the build owners dime: joseph@ledcompliant.con

New comment by achillesheels in "America’s incarceration rate is in decline"

achillesheels — Thu, 26 Jun 2025 14:54:18 +0000

I disagree. Immigration suppresses wages. Which suppresses native born childmaking, which fuels more government charity, erm, welfare, which dampens productivity, which erodes civil liberties.

American is not seen as promoting human rights, and to infer all immigrants are good is naive, hate to get off my porch about this. sits back down on rocking chair whistling “I Wish I was In Dixie” and widdling a hangman with the noose almost finished, just a few more threads

“It didn’t take long for me to discover that these lands were systemically stolen from the hands of the Native Americans who had stewarded them for millennia before colonialism.”

Everyone is playing by the same rules…this includes Natives and their own capturing of soil…this feigned ignorance of the progress of human sentience through capturing land and improving it is deceitful.
