I learned that time is my important resource as i get older. I am 54 and i just take it day by day. I am only good at sales. Its a simple business. A lotta people are doing it. I live in NYC and its not cheap here.

Nobody buying a Ferrari needs an EV. A Ferrari is a flex, like a $100k Rolex — you’re not buying it to tell time, you’re buying it to signal you got loot. That’s what makes the Luce feel kinda confused.

I am 54 . I have been on my own for the last 12 years. I have learned one hard lesson. Surviving IS SUCCEEDING. Yes yes. The problem for me is i have ADHD + i maybe on the spectrum ( i never got diagnosed)+ dylexia and i can't write for shit. come to think about it im not that smart either. IDK. I have a one man shop online business. I only really have 1 skill . I only know how to sell. I grew up in NYC selling fake rolex watches to german tourist back in the day. I mostly worked in luxury retail on madison ave selling luxury handbags for like $30k a pop. I had a job i could not take direction then i started my own business. I launched in 2018 and then i found out that anyone can copy you at anytime. I had kind of a breakdown in 2024 when everyone started to copy my whole business. I kept going . Kept learning SEO / Google ads / enginerring now with Ai its the best thing that ever happened to me. I learned how to build feaures. I am not rich but i have freedom of time. I LOVE working out during the day. I love waiting for my daughter to get home from school. We have dinner together every single day. We went to mexico and NOTHING changed for me. I was still working making money. for me since i can't work in tech and no tech company will hire me. I only know sales so i think for me i had no choice but to launch a business. I am very happy right now. I hope i don't go out of business. idk if i have any suggestions but if you are not good with sales get good at it. Good luck to all the small players out there. i wish you success. This is a very good article i could never write like OP thank you for sharing. Just adding my 2 cents here.

What it is We run a niche marketplace called Only Used Tesla. Answering dozens of buyer questions each day (“Does this VIN have FSD?”, “What’s the battery health?”) was eating our time, so we built OUT (Only-Used-Tesla AI). It’s a chat interface that:

searches our live inventory in real-time and surfaces matching cars

decodes the VIN on the fly to answer spec questions

links straight to the listing so you can keep the convo flowing while you browse

handles follow-ups like range estimates, tax-credit rules, etc.

How it works Stack: Next.js 14 on Vercel, Vercel AI SDK for streamed chat UI

Model: GPT-4o (8k window) via OpenAI API

Retrieval

car listings + VIN metadata sit in Postgres → pgvector

embeddings with ada-002 + hybrid SQL expansion to tighten recall

Prompt: system + user query + top-k listings (JSON) → GPT-4o → markdown → user

Cost control: we truncate fields, switch to GPT-3.5-turbo for lightweight queries, and cache embeddings with a checksum on the record

The repo is private for now, but we’ll open-source the retrieval layer once it stabilises.

Why post this on HN? We’ve built marketplaces before, but this is our first serious RAG+LLM production feature. We want brutally honest feedback on:

Search relevance – do the returned cars make sense?

Latency – first token vs. full answer feels OK to us, but we’re biased.

Prompt design / hallucinations – what edge cases break it?

On-ramp – is “no signup → chat” the right balance, or should we expose more filters first?

Tear it apart; the more it hurts, the better the next iteration will be.

I am working on an [ONLY EV AI SALES AGENT]. I have a dealer feed. I am focused on Electric cars. Basically you ask the AI agent about your electric car needs and using our inventory feed from our dealer partner ( pilot) we match user to car. Video demo here. Trying to ship ASAP. I am working on a Tesla Price tracker. I made $9 this week. ( I am happy i have business validation) I hope to add more subscribers. Tesla is dropping prices on its inventory. Cybertruck is being discounted by $6k now. I charge $9 to track 5 VINs and $20 to track 10 Vins. I set up stripe subscriptions and pull in the inventory from Tesla. I launched https://sellmycybertruck.com/ I make $1.6k buy fee from dealers / wholesalers. I try to avg 10 sales a month. been going good. Think of it like a KBB clone. But im a one man shop. I am just calling buyers all day long. I source leads from facebook. Forums. I just copied the tesla trade in UI / site. IDk its going good. I just launched it. Nothing fancy, i know but its making loot. I am not looking to be a unicorn BS. no BS AI. its just me. :-)

This is not a price DROP. Tesla JACKED up prices on ALL models last year and people forgot about it and now TESLA just went back to the original prices. I been following them since 2016 and they have done this in 2018 with the MODEL S / X P100DL. Exact same shit happened with the first tax credit around 2017 with the release of the MODEL 3. I been scraping their inventory and you can plot the price changes and their used inventory prices are UPSIDE DOWN. Nothing new tesla normal behavior its just that a LOT of news outlets forget this that do not FOLLOW the price volatility. I am now thinking to do a youtube channel to lay it out. -2cents

In my own experience I am 50 years old today. I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes / metabolic syndrome with an A1C of 5.7.-(borderline). weight was 189 pounds. 2 years ago. I started IF. Giving up breakfast then slowly giving up lunch and now eating OMAD ( one meal a day). your BODY WILL get used to eating less. IF worked for me. It seems the MAIN problem is NOT total calories, I read a book by Gary Taubes called "the case for keto." I don't know about bio chem but in the book he said it is not the calories you eat but rather the type of food / calorie. MAIN problem is simple carbs / Sugar. ( slow carbs are veggies) . Simple carbohydrates spike insulin and the harmone insulin is the problem it stores fat. Exercise will just make you hungry. I do exercise , i enjoy running in a fasted state 4-5 miles a way and i do bodyweight muscle building training too. I am no longer pre-diabetic and A1C is normal. But i still gotta keep an eye on it. I dropped weight and and getting used to the keto diet + IF. We have a family history of diabetes in my family. ( dad. brothers. ) all have it and they are on meds. Doctor do not tell you about diet they just put them on Metaformin. I am 2 years on IF and keto and it worked for me. I weigh 165 now. All my blood work is back to normal. Main problem are the simple carbs and frequency of eating. Look around you we live in a carb word / sugar ads everywhere. It is VERY VERY hard to stay away from simple / carbs / sugar but you can do it. Eating healthy is NOT CHEAP either. I do tell my family to try IF and or keto but they are addicted to carbs and are all on metaformin or some diabetic meds. - 2 cents
