I like the general recommendations here but think it really undersells how hard it is to switch in many cases - the time recommendation are comically short. Yes, going to a new site instead of a Google site might only take a minute of your time to sign up but moving all your data over and learning a new, sometimes inferior tool can take weeks.

I switched from the Move to the Studio (freestanding version) and the form feedback triggers __slightly__ more often but it's still not worth bothering about imo. the rep counting not working bothers me way more.

The average person is not capable of self-hosting software and SaaS is much nicer looking / more fully features 99% of the time. I say this as someone who loves self-hosting and self hosts most of my own stuff.

Cities subsidizing maker spaces would solve the wood/metal workign part of this well, and I live in a pretty dense part of the city that has a community garden down the street.

If your laptop breaks and you need a new one you are probably better off doing BNPL if you can instead of buying a cheap, crappy one now.
