Definitely a famous story that gets retold and almost mythologized in China. When I taught over there, several different middle school students independently told me about this story.

The person you're replying to is ridiculous and ignorant. But also many of the creators you're talking about are paid by the Chinese government. If they're living in China on an ongoing basis creating content it's almost certain. Even if they're not paid, you have to be careful what you post if you're building a life in China.

That's not to say that they are completely wrong or lying. China is safer than the US in almost every way, for everyone. But racism manifests differently there. I was in the country through the entire Covid pandemic. Ask the African community in Guangzhou how they were treated.

I consume very little "traditional media." I haven't forgiven most traditional media for the coverage leading up to the Iraq War and adjusted my reading accordingly going on 20 years now. Cable news was always horrible and I stopped watching it well before then. My opinion is entirely based on the video, Musk's own words on Twitter, and his other actions. I simply don't believe you are genuine here and won't continue the conversation.

Nah. Not misinformation. Just other people aren't willing to give him the massive benefit of the doubt that you are. There's no point arguing with you about it, of course. But in context, watching the full video, seeing his opinions expressed on Twitter... surely you can see how people can come to the conclusion that they have.

For you to act like it's 100% definitely misinformation rather than a judgement call is disingenuous to the extreme.

You'll lose a lot of the PyMC convenience functions with Numpyro but gain a lot of control and flexibility over your model specification. If you're doing variational inference, Numpyro is the way to go.

You can use the Numpyro NUTS sampler in PyMC with pm.sample(nuts_sampler="numpyro") and it will significantly speed up sampling. It is less stable in my experience.

I'm glad this exists. But their example with a blog post draft is something I will never do. ChatGPT writing makes me cringe at this point—I might as well write the entire thing because of the number of edits. Natural-sounding writing with a distinctive voice will become more and more valuable in the future.

It's not really "Newspeak" at all; if anything, it's the opposite. Newspeak had limited vocabulary. The interviewer is using a bunch of ten-dollar words. Still, interesting interview! I might read some Padgett Powell at some point because of this.
