Reminded me of ironcalc - rust based project that aims to have full excel parity. Linking it in case you might want to reuse/contribute to that engine.

Maybe a dumb question but what constitutes user-hosted-content?
Is a notion page, github repo, or google doc that has user submitted content that can be publicly shared also user-hosted?
IMO Google should not be able to use definitive language "Dangerous website" if its automated process is not definitive/accurate. A false flag can erode customer trust.

Incredibly cool! It shows running Ubuntu and Postgres, and also supports full posix operations.
Questions:
- I see there is a diagram running multiple Postgres nodes backed by this store, very similar to horizontally distributed web-server. Doesn't Postgres use WAL replication? Or is it disabled and they are they running on same "views" of the filesystem?
- What does this mean for services that handle geo-distribution on app layer? e.g. CockroachDB?
Sorry if this sounds dumb.

Why not use the Gemini flash voice-api directly instead? Cost?
I ask because from the demo, the tutor's voice seems mechanical.
I've played with the gemini voice api and it's quite impressive for conversation with low latency, I'd say perfect for your use case. It even switches languages if I say "Okay, let's talk in $foo language".
The vocabulary tooling looks neat and well thought out.

Hey HN,
I'm Akshay, and I love to experiment with real-time apps.
SparkPad is an experimental GenAI chat app. The twist is real-time collaboration: think multiplayer, a shared chatbook. Messages and streaming AI responses are live for everyone in the space. The prompt editor is also shared and synced.
I use it to create different spaces with custom prompts suited to a task, workflow, or project, keeping my chats scoped. It can also be shared with a team for a common prompt setup.
Tech details: Built with Yjs. Client-side AI API calls are routed through a designated host's API key. The only AI model for now is Gemini (because it's fast)

What are the typical payload sizes in your WebSocket messages? Could you share the median and p99 values?
I've also discovered similar networking issues in my own application while traveling. For example, in Vietnam right now, I was facing recurring issues like long connection establishment times and loss of responsiveness mid-operation.
I thought I was losing my mind - I even configured Caddy to not use HTTP3/QUIC (some networks don't like UDP).
I moved some chunkier messages in my app to HTTP requests, and it has become much more stable (though still iffy at times).

I don't think this would be good UX. Maybe when you've already typed ~20 chars or so. If it was so good at prediction from first keystroke, it'd had that info you're asking in the previous response. It could also work for short commands like "expand", "make it concise", but I can also see it being distracting for incorrect prediction.
> Typing messages in these chat apps quickly becomes tedious and autocompletions help a lot with this.
If you're on Mac, you can use dictation. focus text-input, double-tap control key and just speak.

Consider posting what your app does. You've got good about section on the plugin page, why not mention it here?
> Hey designers! Ever wish you could grab those stunning UI screens you find online and make them instantly editable?
> With Nudge, now you can. We’ve taken the hassle out of design inspiration and turned it into a tool you can actually work with. Think editable, customizable, and ready to roll – straight into your Figma projects.
It saves time for people who are surfing by, and tells them what problem you're solving, engaging a discussion (vs. just posting here as a launch).
Good job on building and putting it out there! I'm not a designer, but it looks incredibly helpful/time saving. In the video it seems I can just click on App store screenshots -> import and play with them in Figma? How does it manage assets/fonts?
Off-topic: https://nobodycaresaboutyourage.com/ (I came across this website a few days ago on Reddit)
