It's perfect because the kind of people who will enjoy it shouldn't be allowed near an axe, anyway.
As someone with a wood stove, for my first few chops I rotated the log to orient the checking. Then it dawned on me that the simulation likely wasn't that sophisticated, and I came here to meet up with you guys.

If most people are right-handed, and right-handed people tend to have larger left feet, then couldn't the difference in foot mass account for the tendency to turn left? The article says the researchers considered biomechanics, but didn't elaborate.
Seems like it'd be easy to test.

I once came across a buck lying in the middle of my driveway. It was curled up in a weird way with one of its legs wrapped behind the back of its neck. Since it was only a few meters off the road, I assumed it had been hit by a car, and I got out of my vehicle to drag it to the side so I could pass. As I approached, I realized its eyes were open and it was breathing. Suddenly, it struggled to its feet, then very clumsily bounded into the woods. It was funny to watch it run away in its state. Even wasted those things can move. It was also a relief not to have to deal with the corpse. I've "buried" more than one deer before.

Your car also has a safety feature that the others upstream lack: a curb weight of only 2400 lbs. Which is already an order of magnitude more mass than necessary to move a few human beings around.
Also, by having some skin in the game, my guess is you're a lot more likely to drive it responsibly, which is probably the most effective safety feature of all.

The easy way to accomplish that would be to go after the businesses that employ them. At this point, however, I think it's safe to assume it's not the real objective, and the economy would crash into a ditch if policy was anything but theater.
