$12,000 for the base model is insane. I have an Apple M3 Max with 128GB RAM that can run 120B parameter models using like 80 watts of electricity at about 15-20 tokens/sec. It's not amazing for 120B parameter models but it's also not 12 grand.

I would argue that actually political corruption is destroying nature because there would not be an obsession with growth if executives did not have so much leverage to make workers desperate for jobs because they're so underpaid.

I got a notification today that Apple is updating its Developer Agreement with some new requirements around Age Verification and their AI models. Asking ChatGPT to summarize:
1. New rules for Apple’s AI / “Foundation Models Framework”
- If your app uses Apple’s built-in AI models, you must implement “reasonable guardrails.”
- Apple can require your model adapters to stay compatible with the current OS model version.
- If you don’t update, your app may break or become incompatible with the OS.
2. Explicit prohibition on using certain system data for AI training
3. New identity verification APIs
4. New Apple Intelligence / ML infrastructure concepts
- Apple intends developers to extend Apple’s AI rather than bring their own models directly into the OS layer.
5. New regional distribution frameworks
- Apple is building region-specific exceptions instead of globally loosening App Store rules.
There's a few more points but basically they're locking down AI and identity regulations much more tightly for the App Store

People don't realize that all of our problems lately are stemming from lack of truly representative government. Until we find a way to ensure political candidates aren't corrupt and bought off, there will always be corruption, double standards, and lack of accountability from them.

The US government should track how many Americans don't have health insurance, instead of caring so much about GDP or the stock market. It's a KPI that would clearly show how poorly the economy is actually functioning.

I have a MacBook M3 Max with 128 GB unified RAM. I use Ollama with Open Web UI. It performs very well with models up to 80B parameters but it does get very hot with models over 20B parameters.
I use it to do simple text-based tasks occasionally if my Internet is down or ChatGPT is down.
I also use it in VS Code to help with code completion using the Continue extension.
I created a Firefox extension so I can use Open WebUI in my browser by pressing Cmd+Shift+Space too when I am browsing the web and want to ask a question: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/foxyai/
