I'm curious, has anyone encountered scenarios where Fable wasn't able to solve a problem, fix a bug, complete some task, etc. outside of the (questionable) restrictions in place? Every conversation I read about Fable devolves into either two conclusions: (1) Fable is insane and was able to do X in one or two prompts or fix issues that other models and humans had been grinding on for a while or (2) Fable sucks because my prompt triggered the guardrails. But I haven't seen much of "Fable wasn't able to do X" and in my work so far I haven't seen it really fail or mess up much at all.

It's shocking to me no one is talking about how Claude Fable is essentially a confirmation of the death of intellectual capital, and that it's happening now. Not 10 years from now, not 5 years from now, but literally right now. We used to romanticize stories of people born into lower socioeconomic conditions (say in the third world) and rising out of it through their intellect. That story, that ladder of social mobility, is completely dead now.

Why is no one mentioning the fact that o3-mini is a couple months old model, and according to Sam Altman, they will be releasing o3 and o4-mini soon? Release dates especially by a couple months matters a lot right now

It's pretty clear what's happening here: the author prefers music to podcasts, and then tries his best to make some sort of argument to justify this. His arguments are at best nonsensical and at worst completely contradictory.
I was considering writing out a response to each of his points but it's honestly not worth my time. A lot of what the author says is a blatant slap in the face to podcasters that spend so many hours tinkering with their work. Quotes like "By sound good, I meant that I wanted podcasts to sound considered." and "...podcasters aren’t thinking hard enough about what their talk sounds like" are ridiculous if you know any serious or notable podcaster in person.
One reason why this might be happening [to the author] is because the author wants podcasts to be more like music, but the reality is that even though music and podcasts are competing for the same resource (ears) their goals are mostly different. The primary differentiating factor is that podcasts almost always aim to convey some concrete information to the listener, and this constraint will always limit the ways the information can be transmitted to the listener (as opposed to music, which is more free-form in nature and isn't necessarily subjected to any restrictions).

This is probably an unpopular opinion here but I don't think these meat substitutes are sustainable for long term health in humans...our bodies are clearly designed to consume meat (especially apparent when you compare our bodies to those of our mostly herbivore relatives) and by extension we need these nutrients to thrive (not just survive, mind you). I understand the incentive for people to go vegan but people should tread very carefully since it's completely contraire to their evolutionary makeup and that doesn't come without consequences.

Just curious, why exactly is it insulting? Would you not classify it as a disability? Why else would they have an autism hiring program if they weren't hindered in some way?

This is an incredibly shortsighted view of Uber if you're being serious. MoviePass doesn't alter the end experience of watching a movie at all, but Uber significantly changes the experience of getting a ride. I'm sure most people would agree that even if they had to pay the same price as a cab, they would prefer the Uber experience over the old model.

Just wanted to say thank you! I used Triplebyte to find the company I'm currently working for, and I've had a wonderful time here so far. The process took a little longer than I had anticipated, but it was well worth it :)

Oh wow, well any chance you might be able to see if there's a bug in the code in regards to what I stated above? I'm trying to see for myself, but I'm about as green as it gets with programming (especially a language I'm not familiar with).

I apologize if this has been asked before (I did do a bit of searching before), but why does it always seem to be the case that the highest level comment in a thread always has the highest upvotes in said thread? Granted, I'm relatively new to Hacker News (and programming in general) but I've never seen a comment replying to a comment that garners more upvotes than the parent comment. This can't be just chance–is there some bug with how the comment system currently displays upvotes on comments?
Unfortunately it doesn't seem like the code for the upvoting system is publicly available (for obvious reasons) but this seems like a pretty strange occurrence to be merely coincidental. Or maybe I'm just crazy and someone could demystify this for me?
