The only good things at Meta are the things they bought (Whatsapp and Instagram). They haven't made anything original in a long long time.

This makes a lot of sense. We've seen how quickly and randomly Claude Code can sour on you (if it's even up). Nobody who uses this for work wants to be reliant on that.

And many of those tool providers could see for 10-20 years now that if they didn't provide a web based version sometime soon, they would go out of business sooner or later.

There are almost no applications that a government employee should be running natively on their machine anyway.

The main reason I use Aerospace (after a thorough testing of most macOS third party window managers) is for the space management and instant space switching.

Writing commit messages shouldn't take any time at all. If it does, then you probably have a range of other professional issues.

Nix does not really work in that even basic things are absurdly complicated and can take days of messing with poor libraries and documentation.

That's not been my experience with jj which after the initial hurdle is a breeze.

I think that's fair. Funny to have a language that makes it prohibitively difficult to use most of the core computer science constructs (lists, graphs etc.).

No Swift was developed as a strategic moat around Apple's devices. They cannot be dependent on any other party for the main language that runs on their hardware. Controlling your own destiny full stack means having your own language.

It’s against money laundering. Onerous regulations being interpreted highly defensively create these kind outcomes.

Neither the people creating the legislations nor the people at Apple responsible for these flows care very much about collateral damage.

All these platforms are kind of a non-starter at scale. The thing that would really stand out is something that has the user friendly workflow definition but then for production running, bakes it into a container that's orchestrated on k8s natively.

We figured out a decade ago or so that Slack was entirely unsustainable for any kind of community type usage. Glad to see that more people are coming to that realization.
