How do people deal with log files, images, excel files, pdfs and other binary data which they need for documentation. Do you just put everything into the repo at /docs ?

One could ask if the highly optimized code is still maintainable? Is adding new features still possible without performance regression?

On the other side in the age of coding agents code maintainability is not such an important metric anymore.

All these tools are nice for a single developer. But they fail to scale for teams where you want a distributed version system, automated tests and CI/CD pipelines. Also you want to reuse code via package management systems. And a single code base for several target systems (cross compilation , electron) is also nice. I believe the mentioned tools offer none of this.

So you are saying a company is basically a tool, like a shovel? But AIs are also tools like shovels, they have no agency on their own. Adding an AI to a company makes sense. It is an additional tool.

I didn't say companies are evil. But there are companies and banks in our world, which are much older than any human could ever be. There are people who think they are in charge of these companies, however sooner or later they will be replaced and the company will still exist without them. In that sense companies are eternal entities, which gives them a godlike status.

We need human mathematicians for humans.

But companies are our gods (don't believe? E.g. companies cannot die from natural causes). They don't need puny humans. They need AI.

It would be nice if it could also search through emails. I'm using emails to myself often as notes and bookmarks. Would be nice if they could be included in the search index.

The idea to use python code instead of other kinds of tool calls is taken from smolagents: https://huggingface.co/blog/smolagents

It is based on this paper https://huggingface.co/papers/2402.01030 and calls this idea CodeAct. The paper is actually from Apple: https://machinelearning.apple.com/research/codeact

So Astra and Fable seem to take this idea to the extreme causing some unwanted side-effects.
